NOW FROM STAVANGER! High up on the hillside, with panoramic views of the Hylsfjord in Suldal, lies the farm Li – almost 300 steep meters up from the fjord.
Through a collaboration between @ryfylkemuseet and @helgoyskyssbaat you can this summer join a fjordcruise from Stavanger and selected docks in Ryfylke where you stop by its boathouse by the fjord before you hike all the way up to the farm with a private guide!
In the courtyard there are 13 buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries, which contain old objects. The composition of buildings for different purposes gives the yard a medieval feel, at the same time as the buildings are built with the help of handicraft traditions that point far back in history. The yard is among the most worthy farmsteads in this part of the country, and is thus also of national interest. The National Heritage Board protected Litunet in 1974.

Ever since the 19th century, the Ryfylke fjords have attracted tourists from home and abroad. Tourists that wanted to experience a journey in contrasts with deep, majestic fjords that wind through lush hillsides, high mountains, idyllic villages and many hundreds of years of history. The route was so popular that, among other things, it formed part of the historic tourism company «Thomas Cook’s» first package tour to Norway and was mentioned by the English tourist E.J. Goodman in his «The Best Tour in Norway» in his book from 1896.
The tour starts in Stavanger and continues into the fjord system in the Ryfylke region, where you pass idyllic hamlets, lush hillsides and majestic fjords. On the way, guests are picked up from the various ports in Ryfylke. The trip takes you all the way to Hylsfjord, which is a hidden gem in the fjord system in Ryfylke. Here the guides Lars Olav Fatland and Terje Fatland, who themselves grew up by the fjord, will give you an insight into the rich history of the area. On the way back, we make a 2-hour stop at the historic township of Sand, which is located at the junction between Hylsfjorden, Sandsfjorden and Saudafjorden. Among the white wooden houses close to the fjord, they can take in the village idyll with small niche shops, cafes and a mini-concert!
