Store Russetinden, the highest mountain in Nordkjosbotn, photographed with magnificent red and green northern lights. 🏔️✨

Did you know that the colours of the northern lights are caused when the charged particles from sun collides with different atoms and molecules in the atmosphere. Oxygen atoms are causing the two most usual colours, green and red, as seen in this picture. Nitrogen molecules are producing more bluish light and deep red colour. True beauty!☺️

Can you believe it is already ten years ago when Roy started his own northern lights chases from Tromsø! "The Dancing Lights" - a northern lights chase by minibus was created and introduced to the world. What an increadible journey it has been!

Back then, we had no idea what the years would bring. Now, when looking back, at the top of our minds are encounters with wonderful people from all over the world, and all of those unique, awe-inspiring nature experiences we have shared with all of you. Thank you so much for choosing us as your guide when travelling to Tromsø and Northern Norway! 🤗 You made it possible!

"The Dancing Lights" is still our most popular tour, but now we also offer one to several days excursions to the mountains. A real wilderness retreat, as one of our customers described it =) Let's see what the next decade brings! We are ready for new adventures 😁

Our "Arctic Adventure" tour is a perfect option for you who want an active holiday away from the hustle and bustle of cities. To spend some days surrounded by pure arctic nature in Northern Norwegian fells, it is something we can call as a real wilderness retreat 😍🏔️

In this particular tour we did hike to the mountains, did some fishing, got taste of fresh catch, a ptarmigan prepared on campfire. This year snow came late, so we didn´t need snowshoes for hiking (in the beginning of Nowember). We did climb up to the peak of the nearest mountain, Perstinden, 917 meters above sea level. We had a camp near the tree line. A beautiful frosty night with moonlight and some northern lights. We came back down to the valley next day. Relaxing sauna and homemade dinner did crown the trip. 🌞🍲

Some pictures from "the dancing lights"on October 18, the northern lights chase starting from Tromsø. We drive from Tromsø to a place where we find some clear sky, at this time we ended up close to Finnish border, about 160km from Tromsø. I had with me lovely people from Vietnam, Israel and Catalonia 😊

We are often asked when is the best time to see the northern lights. Not so easy to answer as each month has its own charm 😄
In these pictures you can see a typical October night, with northern lights and full moon illuminating the light snow cover of the fells 🏔️

A roadtrip to Lofoten

One of our favourites wild food plants is ostrich swings, lat. Matteuccia struthiopteris. (Strutseving in norwegian). We can pick it here in Troms area in the end of May - beginning of June. It is really delicious! We use it as a vegetable with fish or meat. This season we have picked a lot of them so that we have some for wintertime and for our future customers as well 😊

How to prepare:
These plants should be picked when they are small, max 10 cm high. Only pick young curled leafs. Rinse with fresh water, and boil them for 10 minutes. Cool down quickly. Fry in a frying pan with olive oil and add some salt and pepper. Yammy!😋😋😋 You can also freeze them when boiled.

Fresh, tasty and healthy food from the nature 😋 You really appreciate this after a long winter!

Growing season is only three to four months, so we try to make the most of it. Here some pesto made of wild plants and spruce tips, delicious with fish, or just with a slice of bread.
