Have you noticed the granite lions guarding Oslo's parliament building? 🦁
A lion has been sitting on each side of the building since 1865. They were designed by sculptor Christopher Borch, but carved by prisoners serving time at Akershus Fortress. The sculptor gave lessons to prisoners, and the two extra gifted ones he selected to carve the lions were later pardoned, in part, because they helped carve these very stately sculptures 🦁
