✅It was minimal intervention to the traffic on the highway below the deck.

✅Overhead MSS is another Movable Scaffolding System solution that is also suitable for concreting span by span BOX or DOUBLE T DECK sections.

✅Box Overhead MSS typically consists of a resistant structure supported by the columns, from where the formwork is suspended. The resistant structure normally includes two main I-beams, a set of transverse beams and the noses and supports.

✅When the solution is used for concreting box section decks, the internal formwork is identical to the internal formwork used in underslung MSS.

✅The Overhead MSS main supports are designed in each case to adjust to the geometry of the columns in each project and the way the reactions should be transmitted to the concrete.

STRUKTURAS has extensive experience in designing different support configurations for overhead MSS.
The most common support solution consists of assembling support legs directly on the column, in which case the legs are connected to the concrete using embedded anchors.
Other solutions less frequently used have profiles passing through the column walls, collar friction or even precast concrete legs which becomes lost inside the deck structure.

🏗 Underslung Form Traveller Ariari
Puerto Lleras, Meta, Colombia

Connecting the downtown area of Puerto Lleras with the existing Vista Hermosa county road, known as “Trocha Siete” with a bridge over the Ariari River.

It is a cable-stayed bridge with a length of 270 m, made up of spans of 70 m, 135 m and 70 m and a deck width of 11.6 m. Bridge supported by two pylons approximately 52 m high and 20 m wide at the base.

The superstructure is made up of a concrete slab that is supported on longitudinal and transverse by structural steel beams.

Balanced cantilever construction method of the deck - Cast-In-Situ with Form Travellers.

🔴 The Underslung Form Traveller solution can be adapted to different types of bridge decks, such as arch bridges and cable-stayed bridges, leaving enough room to assemble the temporary or final cable stays, and allowing easy launchback to the initial assembly position.

The external formwork of this type of Form Traveller is supported by the main structure, leaving enough room to install the pre-assembled rebar cage. When the rebar cage is pre-assembled, the Strukturas Underslung Form Traveller is the perfect choice.

MSS steht für “Movable Scaffolding System” und der Name ist Programm: Entwickelt für Brücken und Viadukte aus Ortbeton, lässt sich die Vorschubrüstung von effizient und sicher bewegen. 🌉 Durch den Einsatz von MSS können die bestehenden Autobahnen und Schienenwege während des größten Teils der Bau- oder Abrisszeit offenbleiben. Gleichzeitig handelt es sich um ein Brückenbausystem, das sicheres Arbeiten ermöglicht.

Die Vorschubrüstung gibt es in unten und oben laufender Ausführung, so dass die Bauarbeiten sowohl oberhalb als auch unterhalb der Brücke durchgeführt werden können. Beide Ausführungen nutzt für den Neubau oder Abbruch von Straßen- und Eisenbahnbrücken. Die Systeme eignen sich hervorragend für die Ortbetonage ganzer Spannweiten.

✅Ein obenliegendes MSS hat den Vorteil, dass es hinter den Widerlagern in Bodennähe installiert werden kann.

✅Underslung MSS bietet die Möglichkeit, freien Platz für die Bewehrungsinstallation zu haben. Außerdem kann der Turmdrehkran auf dem MSS platziert werden, um mobile Kräne für Installationsarbeiten zu ersetzen. 🏗

✅ The Heubach valley bridge consists of two parallel structures, which are demolished and rebuilt in two construction phases.

Demolition of the old bridge and the construction of the new Heubach bridge was awarded by Die Autobahn to the contractor Implenia .

✅ Movable Scaffolding System ensures the minimal intervention to existing infrastructure.
✅ Using MSS for new construction allows the existing highway and the road bellow to remain open throughout most of the construction period.
✅ After finished demolition the same MSS is also used for the construction of the new TT section decks.
This approach saves time and resources, making the construction process more efficient.
✅The MSS installation works was carried out by professional site team from Strukturas.

Underslung MSS - Movable Scaffolding System
☝ Box section - one phase casting 14 day typical Cycle



✅ The Underslung MSS solution is currently used in the span by span construction of the cast-in-situ bridges and viaducts decks, with spans normally varying between 20 m and 70 m.

✅ Concreting each box section span using Underslung MSS can be done in one or more stages, depending on the deck design.

✅ The versatility of the Underslung MSS solution makes it possible to be used on decks with a variable plan view radius and up to minimum of 250 m to 300 m.

Each underslung MSS normally consists of: a resistant steel structure, supporting brackets, suspension gallows, a set of working platforms and ladders, internal and external formwork, high resistance threaded bars, bolts, pin bolts and hydraulic systems that allow the MSS to be launched and formwork to be opened and closed, as well as making the necessary geometric adjustments.

The MSS noses are hinged in relation to the main girders, making it possible to adjust to relatively small, fixed or variable plan view curvature radius.

✅ The Strukturas MSS system is developed in 1971 by Engineer Tore Gjolme, who founded Strukturas as in 1991. He is 78 years old and still going strong and working daily at Stukturas office with team!
Due to constant succession Strukturas team accumulated more than 50 years of bridge building equipment engineering legacy from Strukturas founder Engineer Tore Gjolme.
This is the reason of Strukturas technical professionalism.

Gemeinsam stark im Brückenbau – das ist die Philosophie von Hünnebeck und Strukturas. 💪
Dafür besonders geeignet sind Freivorbaugeräte von Strukturas, die als wirtschaftliche und vielseitige Schalungslösung den Bau von Spannbetonbrücken im Freivorbauverfahren ermöglichen. Als oben laufendes Freivorbaugerät ist es die am häufigsten verwendete Lösung für das Gießen von Brücken- und Viaduktdecks, deren Spannweite zwischen 60 und 250 Metern liegt. 🏗️
Unten laufende Freivorbaugeräte können an verschiedene Arten von Brückendecks angepasst werden, wie z.B. Bogen- und Schrägseilbrücken. Es lässt genügend Platz für die Montage der provisorischen oder endgültigen Schrägseile und ermöglicht ein einfaches Zurückfahren zur ursprünglichen Montageposition. ⚙️

✅ The replacement of the 50-year-old bridge was absolutely necessary due to the overall poor condition of the structure and the load-bearing reserves that are no longer sufficient for today's traffic conditions.

✅Bridge info:
Year of construction of existing building - 1971
Length - 475 meters
Bridge spans - 45 + 7 x 55 + 45 meters
Height above ground - 40.30 meters

Demolition of the the old bridge and the construction of the new KRONDORF was awarded by Die Autobahn to the contractors Eiffage Infra-Süd GmbH & Eiffage Infra-Bau SE & Eiffage Infra-nordwest GmbH.

✅ Movable Scaffolding System ensures the minimal intervention to existing infrastructure.
Using MSS for demolition allows the existing highway remain open throughout most of the demolishing period. The northbound deck is being demolished as the traffic is running on the southbound deck.

✅ After finished demolition MSS was lowered with 4 strand jacks, later the the MSS was disassembled on the ground.

✅ The total weight of each of the 55m long spans is 1400 tons ❗

✅The engineering challenge - to avoid an overload of the superstructure during the demolition and to ensure a safe load transfer within the load capacity of the MSS.

✅ The existing Werntalbridge on the highway A7 north of Würzburg (Germany) had been demolished and replaced with a new bridge. The bridge is 460 m long and made with two parallel decks with 8 spans. Moreover, the maximum span length is 59,5 m and the deck width is 15,2 m.
Demolition of the the old bridge and the construction of the new Werntalbridge was awarded by Die Autobahn to the contractor Arlt Bauunternehmen GmbH .

✅ Movable Scaffolding System ensures the minimal intervention to existing infrastructure.
Using MSS for demolition allows the existing highway and the railway below the deck to remain open throughout most of the demolishing period.

The MSS was assembled on the ground, later the MSS was lifted with 4 strand jacks and finally launched to the first span.

✅ The total weight of each of the 59,5m long spans is 1600 tons ❗

Congrats to client Royal BAM Group on casting first segments of Cross Tay Link Road bridge in Scotland.

☝ In this project we use Non-symmetrical casting!

✅ The use of this method corresponds to the initial assembly of only one Form Traveller (FT) and casting of the corresponding segment.
This Form Traveller (FT) is then moved to the end of the cast segment, and the pair’s second Form Traveller (FT) is assembled.
The pair’s second segment is then cast.
Subsequent segments will be cast symmetrically.

Max. Segment Length: 5,6 m
Max. Segment Width: 15,44 m
Max. Segment Weight: 261 Tons with 4,6 m

Movable Scaffolding System
Gerald Desmond Bridge - replacement project
Long Beach, California, USA


The main structure is resolved by means of a cable-stayed bridge with a 305-m. long principal span at 61 m. over the Back Channel and two 152-m. long end spans. The project was designed with two 155-metre maximum height, single-shaft towers, 90 m. above the deck.
The deck is 47 m. wide and consists of longitudinal metal beams at the ends and transversal metal beams spaced at five meters.
The access viaducts to the stayed section are 900 m long on the west side and 1,155 m. long on the east side. These viaducts mostly have been executed onsite with a movable scaffolding system (MSS).

Strukturas designed and supplied 2 underslung Movable Scaffolding Systems - Orange MSS and Blue MSS

The characteristics of the Movable Scaffolding Systems:
- Maximum span: 69.8 m
- Maximum span MSS: 57.78 m
- Capacity: 51.23 Tn/m and 46.49 Tn/m
- Maximum deck width: 25.39 m
- Deck concrete casting in two phases
- Minimum radius: 610 m
- Maximum transversal slope: 2.0%
- Maximum longitudinal slope: 5.0%
- Deformations: L/400
