Tromsø International Film Festival is a popular film festival for our audience, and at the same time an important meeting point for Norwegian and international film industry. The festival has had an incredible growth since it first commenced in 1991. The total of admissions in 1991 was 5200 - in 2020 it was nearly 60,000. This makes TIFF Norway's biggest film festival. Artistic profile and social

function
TIFF shall be an arena for joint cinematic experiences focusing on artistic quality, curated on the background of the festival’s values, in particular humanism and freedom of speech. TIFF shall be a gathering place and screening venue for the northern based film industry. TIFF shall preserve and promote film and other cultural heritage through the yearlong operation of Verdensteatret. TIFF shall be an educational arena for children and youngsters on the art of film, moving images and media science. Outdoor Cinema
Tromsø International Film Festival is set in the dark polar nights, which give's TIFF the unique possibility to screen films outdoor. The outdoor cinema is located at the main square in the heart of Tromsø. The program includes a selection of shorts and documentaries from the Films from the North program, along with special screenings and various other events. TIFF 2020 facts:
68554 admissions in total (all screenings and events - unofficial numbers)
58320 admissions in total to official TIFF screenings
6331 admissions to additional screenings and industry events
3903 admission to parties and social events
10856 individual participants

Vi er takknemlige for gode samarbeid!🤝

Sist uke var det markedsrådsmøte i TIFF, denne gangen huset av UiT Norges arktiske universitet på Senter for Fredsstudier.

Markedsrådet er en arena hvor vi sammen med våre gode partnere jobber med strategi og idéutvikling for å skape gode og bærekraftige samarbeid. Det knyttes gode relasjoner og snakkes om hvordan vi kan jobbe med å nå målene våre sammen🙌

Denne gangen presenterte blant annet Rektor ved UiT, Dag Rune Olsen universitetets nye strategi inn mot 2030 med navn Eallju – Drivkraft i nord. UiTs mandat om å utvikle samfunn i arktiske strøk har en naturlig overlapp med vår egen visjon: «Fra vår unike posisjon i Arktis skal TIFF inspirere til humanisme og ytringsfrihet». Dette gir grobunn for gode samarbeid.✨

- Mie is a talented musician we have been following for a long time. She has been a TIFF artist with the band A Million Pineapples and played at our closing party this year. It has been exciting to see Mie evolve into a solo artist – she has an energetic stage presence and uses many instruments, so it will be very enjoyable to see what she comes up with for The Girl in Tails. This is a film that aligns well with Mie in mood and tone, says TIFF festival director Lisa Hoen.

In collaboration with @tvibit we gathered a group of teenagers to watch films for our festival, with a mission to choose the four films that make up TIFF UNG 2024. The Youth Culture Discount applies to all young people in Tromsø aged 13-19 years (from the age of 13 until the age of 19). We are looking forward to the screening of The Sweet East tomorrow! *** Velkommen til TIFF UNG, et eget filmprogram for ungdommer 15-19 år! Tomorow is a World Premiere of Diagnonsense, Ane-Martha Tamnes Hansgård’s self-reflexive documentary about her experience of being diagnosed with several mental disorders over fifteen years, from a very early age. Our Story

Tromsø International Film Festival is a popular film festival for our audience, and at the same time an important meeting point for Norwegian and international film industry. TIFF 2021 will be the 31st edition of the festival. The festival is due January 18-24. The festival has had an incredible growth since it first commenced in 1991. The total of admissions in 1991 was 5200 - in 2019 it was 60000. This makes TIFF Norway's biggest film festival. Purpose Tromsø International Film Festival screens challenging quality films for a local, national and international audience. Outdoor Cinema Tromsø International Film Festival is set in the dark polar nights, which give's TIFF the unique possibility to screen films outdoor. The outdoor cinema is located at the main square in the heart of Tromsø. The program includes a selection of shorts and documentaries from the Films from the North program, along with special screenings and various other events. TIFF 2019 facts: 60501 admissions in total 10905 individual participants 1630 accreditated participants - including 111 media representatives and 263 volunteers 5 screening venues + outdoor cinema The festival generates an amount of 26 million NOK into trade and business.* * Marketing report from 2011 by Bedriftskompetanse AS.
