Happy holidays, from LA1K. This is the new "Formann" writing and I wish everyone who reads this is having a lovely Christmas holiday, or if you don't celebrate Christmas, i hope you still have a lovely holiday and December. We have a great interest in SOTA in the club, but we also find time for easier portable trips. In the last few years, we have had nice portable operations where we also invited the license course participants to for example Gråkallen and Lavollen. Another year is almost over. For us in the Nordic countries, that means snow and cold weather is due very soon. And, for us in the radio community, it also means last chance to work on our antennas outside before it becomes too unpleasant and slippery. A few weeks ago we planned a maintenance session, primarily focusing on our VHF-array. Before the sun had set we had worked on the VHF-array as well as all the HF antennas in our park, so we thought we could give a little update on everything while we were at it....

Starting on September 11th, our biannual license course began for the fall semester. After 7 course nights, concluding with an exam on October 30th, we can produly announce the new licensees. LB2BK - Anitha Poothappillai LB2CK - Lena Nilsson LB2DK - Anders Kornberg Simensen Congratulations to all of the above! You'll all be rewarded with a bill from NKOM very soon, but you can begin to use your callsign instantly!...

Introduction: In an earlier issue of Amatørradio, LA1K published two articles in the ongoing series about our anniversary celebration. One of which told about how we put our own touch on the May 17th parade in Trondheim, and the other concluded some loose ends regarding the club's radio activities. An old tradition that may as well be built on wordplay and puns alone, LA1K/P went straight to Hell a few weeks back (by train). Hellschreiber in Hell, on Halloween, hasn't been carried out for a while now, so LB0CJ, LB1HH and LB5PI thought they should give it a go and venture out on a special kind of trick or treating this fall evening....

This year LA1K decided to try to beat our best result to date in the CQWW RTTY contest. Hot on the heels from Field Day we felt we had not gotten to send as much RTTY as we wanted. Introduction: Now we've reached part 4 of 6 in the ongoing anniversary series of LA1K. In issue number 3 of "Amatør Radio", we mentioned Field Day as a part of the yearly contest calendar. As it is such a large part of the year for our club, we thought it deserved some more dedicated space just to cover it properly. This year we went back to Samatun, a place we have started to consider as our “Field Day home”. The weather gods was kind this time around, and the usual wool sweater, beanie and mittens could be replaced with sunscreen, cool shades and a cap. We had +25 degrees celsius, sun and almost no wind. Do you want to get an amateur radio license? It is now time for our biannual license course, which offers you a chance to do just that. The course comprises six lectures, a trial exam, and a license exam over a total of 8 weeks. The curriculum is the book "Veien til internasjonal radioamatørlisens"(In Norwegian) and online learning materials from NRRL The slides are in english, but if every participant speaks Norwegian, the lectures will be given in Norwegian....
