Stegastein Viewpoint, Aurland, Norway
I am so looking forward to guiding more wonderful guests this coming Tuesday, and one of the places we'll be visiting is the incredible Stegastein viewpoint in Aurland. Situated 650m (2130ft) above Aurlandsfjord, it's one of the mightiest fjord views in west Norway.
Interested in a private tour with me for 2025?
Then feel free to get in touch to discuss.
🎥 Video shot by me, March 2024.
COME AND SEE FOR YOURSELF
Our little piece of fjord beauty. I say little, because it gets none of the attention that say, places like, Flåm get. But I defy anyone to tell me that the sight of Lihesten mountain emerging from the morning cloudy mist isn't one of the most spectacular sights in west Norway. Just watch the video. Shot this morning. Yet almost no-one comes here.
If you are curious enough, then you'll find this view. Only 30 minutes drive from the main E39 road between Bergen and Ålesund. And maybe, just maybe, you might want to join us a Viking Footprints this summer for a little taste of a different Viking story. We are open for booking now.

AS a guide and, for what of a better word, educator, it's really good (and fun, I think) to get underneath the basic knowledge of the past and learn a little of how people did things. In the Viking Age, in the cold north, knowing how to set and light a fire was a life sustaining and critical skill to have.
Here at Viking Footprints in Hyllestad if you book a half day private group experience with us, we will show you how.

Here's quick demonstration from that rather familiar looking guy without his camera...😅
Thank you for all your good wishes and I hope you are having a great Easter weekend. I really appreciate all the encouragement you have shown me.
So now I will be concentrating on the other things that I am doing here in Norway. And if you are planning a trip to Norway, especially west Norway, then maybe there is something of particular interest to you.
I am, and will be, expanding my private guiding for small groups (largely in west Norway), and expanding what is offered by my Viking themed activity company, Viking Footprints.
I do encourage you to 'Go Viking' with me if you are visiting west Norway in the future. You'll then get to see what other kind of shooting I do, other than with a camera and get a chance to try for yourself. Are you up for it?!

A little video from Borgund Stave Church to compliment yesterday's pictures. Hope you enjoy!
Viking Footprints, Norway - Trailer 2024
A little video taster for you today of my other main project at the moment. Viking Footprints is a historically themed activity company run by myself and my wife, Frøydis. Last summer we tested the concept, and now we move ahead with the development of our offer.
We will be offering a bookable 2 hour session for visitors in the summer season, here at our base in Hyllestad, and will be developing further products in the near future, for private groups.
Our trailer video for this year gives a little flavour of what we do. I hope you enjoy! I'll be back with further information and updates on Viking Footprints in the near future. Thanks again for all your support.
Thanks and credit to FjordKysten og Sunnfjord for the supplied video footage of us in action!
You might think Norway 🇸🇯 is always a winter wonderland. But here in west Norway, winter comes, winter goes, winter comes, winter goes....😅
And winter came... ❄️😍❄️
