The first time we saw Everest 🏔️ on our trek to the base camp it was an indescribable sensation, we finally had before our eyes the highest and most famous mountain in the world (8848 meters). We knew that we still had practically a week of walking left to achieve the goal, but with these views we were clear that everything would be easier. 😍

PS: This photo was taken on stage 4 that goes from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche and is probably one of the hardest of the entire trek to the EBC. 💪

I spent the last two weeks in Nubri, one of the most beautiful and sacred valleys in Nepal. People in Kathmandu often tell me, “I had much better access to water in my village.” After visiting this Himalayan region, I now have a better understanding of what that means and just how much how much access to piped water can improve public health. Plus I visited a monastery where holy water flows through the taps and experience a part of Nepal so different from any other place I’ve been in the country. None of this would have been possible without such an amazing research team!

I reached almost all of my goals in 2023. 💪 I trained a lot this year in the mountains, the gym & running in my neighbourhood. 😵 Sometimes it was really hard to keep the continuity of my training. I definitely have to work on my discipline to get more powerful next year! 🤟 I already planned my goals for 2024. 🔥 In January I will share them! 😎 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

With 📸 ~ Back in 2018 I did an amazing ten day trek from Lukla to Everest Basecamp. Here's some photos from that journey. On two of the last frames you can see the mighty Mount Everest on sunset (middle peak) and on the last frame as the left peak. Still one of the most amazing trip I have ever done.

The Everest Base Camp trek is a popular trekking route in Nepal that takes you to the base camp of Mount Everest, the world's highest peak. It is an iconic adventure that offers breathtaking scenery, stunning views of the Himalayas, and an opportunity to experience the unique Sherpa culture.
Location: The trek starts and ends in Lukla, a small town in the Solu Khumbu region of Nepal. It takes you through the Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Best time to go: The peak trekking seasons are in the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) when the weather is relatively stable and clear. However, the trek can be done throughout the year, although winter (December to February) and monsoon season (June to August) have more

Difficulty: The Everest Base Camp trek is considered moderately challenging. It involves walking for 5-6 hours a day on average, with some steep uphill and downhill sections. Prior trekking experience is not necessary, but it's recommended to have a good level of fitness and stamina.

Altitude: One of the main challenges of the trek is the altitude. The base camp is situated at an elevation of 5,364 meters (17,598 feet), and trekkers need to acclimatize properly to avoid altitude sickness. With 📹 It's unbelievable that it's almost six months since our last big adventure that took us touring Nepal and doing one of the most famous treks around, Everest Base Camp ⛰. It was a very hard experience but today we remember with the greatest of affection and is that being surrounded by mountains as impressive as the Pumori (7161 m) is an indescribable feeling 🙏

With 📹@mathew_everard Nepal Everest Base Camp Trek • This film is dedicated to all those who lost their lives in the Earthquake back in 2015 & to the Spirit of the Nepalese people Jodie & Myself were in Kathmandu when the Earthquake hit in 2015, after trekking up to Everest Base Camp. We arrived back in Kathmandu a few days before the Earthquake. Up to 9000 people died and many more injured We weren't together at the time of the first Earthquake, but we somehow managed to find each other through the chaos, a few streets away. We ran to the nearest clear area to dodge the falling rubble and power lines, which happened to be a car park in the old Princes's palace. I remember looking back in to the city, to what I can only describe as a snake moving from side to side, I couldn't believe how the earth was moving We stayed the night outside there with many other people, while the aftershocks hit throughout the night. We all kept our eyes on the birds and dogs who would bark and fly away just before an aftershock would come… The next day we made our way to the British Embassy, with many other nationalities who were welcomed and kept safe, as this was a new earthquake proof building with its own water supply. After visiting again in 2018, the country is still recovering in many parts, Kathmandu old town and its Temples are in ruin and many buildings are still rubble to this day. A big thank you to the BristishEmbassy for helping us and many other nationalities, as we were all helpless for 3 days after the 25th April 11.56AM. After summiting Manaslu (8,163m) and starting descent to base of the mountain, I found a lonely dog, lost near field 2, at 6.150m altitude! The dog was fine and seemed to enjoy the adventure. The last segment was given to me with great difficulties, which were associated with fatigue, because I am already walking for the 5th day in a row, in my arms and have not slept for more than 30 hours. And also, as an evil, there were large snowdrifts, on which it was difficult to walk. I walked for 8.5 hours to the top through pain, because my right shoulder hurt so much that I had to take painkillers. The shoulder just broke, not literally, it just used up its capabilities. In a couple of hours I will cross the 8000 m mark. It is called the zone of death or the point of no return. Am I afraid? Of course not! The mountain showed its character, did not want to let me in just like that, but I showed mine, showing through my willpower that I am more worthy than anyone to stand on this peak!
