Machhapuchhre is still among the unclimbed peaks in the Himalayas. Climbing the summit is strictly off-limits and very few (if any) have ever set foot on the mountain top.

It is scared in the Hindu religion as the home of Lord Shiva.

It is situated at an elevation of 6,993m near the Annapurna Himalayas of north-central Nepal.
