The Ramaroshan Trek unveils one of the Far Western Region's most exquisite trails in Achham District. Nestled at an altitude of 2,500 meters, Rama and Roshan, two stunning wetlands, beckon just a brief 30-minute stroll apart. Legends intertwine with the land, one narrating the origin of "Ramaroshan" from the graceful plateaus 'Rama' and 'Roshan'. Another weaves a tale of God Rama finding solace in the serene enclave of Roshan. Yet another speaks of Lord Shiva and Parvati's post-wedding idyll in this very expanse.
In the embrace of Ramaroshan, twelve lakes mirror the sky, and eighteen verdant pastures, known locally as Patans, paint a captivating landscape. To the north, an unbroken vista of sedimentary rock faces stands tall, where intrepid locals harvest honey from cliffs towering a staggering 100 meters. Along the Ramaroshan trek, a panoramic vista unfolds, featuring the Budhi Ganga River Basin, the majestic silhouettes of Mount Api and Mount Saipal, and the sacred Badi Malika Temple. This realm is not only a canvas of natural wonders but also a sanctuary for traditional hamlets and, on occasion, the glimpsed presence of wild boars, bears, and even elusive tigers.
The journey into Ramaroshan commences with a city-bound flight to Dhangadi, with an evening spent exploring the Mohana Corridor and Tharu Village. The ensuing day embarks on a scenic seven to eight-hour drive to Safebagar, winding through undulating hills. From Jugada, the trek unfolds, bookending back in Safebagar.
