Nepal has adopted a new constitution

Nepal’s long-cherished dream of writing a new constitution through an elected assembly of people has finally come true. Today, President Ram Baran Yadav promulgated Nepal’s Constitution 2015 amidst a special ceremony held in the Constituent Assembly hall. With the promulgation of the new constitution, Nepal has formally become a federal democratic republic. The new constitution has created seven federal provinces and recognised Nepal as a secular country.

People have celebrated the new constitution by carrying out welcome rallies across the country and also lighting lamps to welcome the new constitution. We believe that promulgation of the new constitution is the logical conclusion of the peace process that began with the end of the Maoist war, and we hope that it will bring about political stability, peace and prosperity in the country.

Wondering when to travel to ? Consider this: On July 2, the U.S. Government relaxed its travel advisory that had been put in place after the April 25 earthquake. As with any trip, don't forget to check the U.S. State Department's latest travel advisory updates: http://goo.gl/53vxoX.

Two of Nepal's biggest trekking trails, Annapurna and Everest, have been inspected and signaled good-to-go by the Miyamoto International engineering group. Repair is underway in Nepal's iconic world heritage sites, like Bouddhanath. And many tourist destinations in the country were not affected by the quake to begin with!

There is a reason more than half a million tourists -- pilgrims, adventurers, artists, families -- from all over the world come to Nepal annually. Last year's tourism inflow created 450,000 jobs in Nepal. And tourists constantly rate Kathmandu as one of the world's best cities to travel to. Come discover your Nepal experience, .

New Zealand has updated their Travel Advisory for Nepal by correctly specifying the affected areas! We really hope USA, UK and Canada etc.; will also review the current situation and update their travel advisory pages accordingly which will help save tourism in Nepal.

Due to their absolute negative travel advisories, tourists are reluctant to book holidays in Nepal now despite the popular tourist destinations in Nepal like - Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan and Lumbini are fully safe to travel and life is already normal.

There is high risk to your safety in the districts of Gorkha, Kavrepalanchok, Dhading, Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Sindupalchok, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Okhaldunga and Makwanpur. The Government of Nepal has designated these districts as earthquake-affected. We advise against all tourist and other non-essential tra…

Nepal shocked the whole world with its tragic news about the devastating 7.9 magnitude Earthquake on 25th April. There have been over 125 aftershocks of different scales recorded after the major quake.

We are deeply sad that already over 7,000 innocent people have lost their lives and more than twice as many have been injured. Over 130,000 houses have been destroyed. According to the UN, 8 million people in Nepal have been affected by this massive earthquake. Several important historic monuments have also been badly damaged by this terrible catastrophe. Villages in the hilly regions including many trekkers' guest houses have been destroyed. It also triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest, killing at least 25 people, making it the deadliest day on the mountain in history. The damage is severe and it will now take years to rebuild Nepal. Volunteers and emergency workers are in search for victims and clearing the debris.

Our team, family and the clients are fortunately safe. We were able to evacuate or provide all necessary assistance to our clients in Nepal despite communication were difficult. There are some casualties including loss of life & injury of our relatives/friends and some damages in our office as well as houses of our team members by this natural calamity.

We thank all our agents/clients and well-wishers for their prayers and thoughts during this dark time. We need strengths and perseverance to manage through this difficult period. We are truly touched by big hearted friends/clients and well wishers who want to contribute/help. We have also decided to propose to contribute a certain amount on every new booking to our Relief Fund.

The government seems to be unfortunately poor in the disaster management. The relief distribution and medical services have not been so effective to the victims.

We have requested our agents/clients to cancel all the bookings till end of this month considering the situation. For safety reasons, operation of most of the hotels in Kathmandu has been stopped for proper examination and approval by structure engineers. Major highways (except Kathmandu/Tibet border highway) are in operation despite small landslides which have been cleared. Some parts in Kathmandu are inaccessible and they will be opened once the debris is cleared. Our international and all domestic airports are in full operation as usual.

Life in Kathmandu is slowly returning to normalcy. Our office will reopen from this Monday.

Maha Shivaratri

Maha Shivaratri meaning the Great Night of Lord Shiva is a Hindu festival celebrated every year in reverence of Lord Shiva. Millions of Hindus attend Shivaratri together from different part of the world at the famous Pashupatinath Temple in Nepal. It is the day Shiva was married to Parvati.

Very early morning, Shiva temples are flocked by devotees, young and old, who come to perform the traditional Shivalinga worship and hope for favours from the God. Devotees bathe at sunrise which is a rite of purification, which is an important part of all Hindu festivals. Wearing clean clothing after the holy bath, worshipers carry pots of water to the temple to bathe the Shivalinga. Devotees circulate the lingam three or seven times, and then pour water over it. Some also pour milk over it.

The festival falls on 17th Feb in this year.

MAKAR (MAGHE) SANKRANTI

Maghe Sankranti is a Nepalese national festival observed on the first day of Magh in the Bikram Sambat calendar. The festival of Makar Sankranti marks the day when the sun begins its northward journey and enters the sign of Makar (the Capricorn) from the Tropic of Cancer.

Observant Hindus take ritual baths during this festival, notably at auspicious river locations. Festive foods like laddoo, ghee and sweet potatoes are distributed. According to the legend of Mahabharata, Bhishma, who had the power to control his own death, chose to die on the day of Maghe Sankranti. Therefore it is believed that one to die on this day might achieve Moksha, a release from the rebirth cycle.
