Manaslu region is bounded on the east by the Ganesh Himal and the Budi Gandaki River gorge, on the west by the deep gaps of the Marysyangdi Khola with its Annapurna range of hills, to the south in the Gorkha town in the foot of the hill. From here trekking operates during the season. This is also the shelter of 33 species of mammals including snow leopard, musk deer and Himalayan Thar, 110 species of birds, 3 species of reptiles and a rich eco diversity over 200 species of pants. The trekkers will see a wide range of flora typical of the middle hills and alpine regions of Nepal. Mostly people of Tibetan origin inhabit several villages in the Upper Manaslu region as at lower Manasluarea other ethnic groups such as Gurungs and Tamangs inhabits. Manaslu Region Trek was open in 1991 for foreign trekkers and it is considered as controlled trekking area in Nepal therefore Manaslu region trekking requires special trekking permit through government registered trekking agency of Nepal as it is controlled area.
