In Nepal, it’s known as Sagarmāthā. The Tibetans call it Chomolungma (“Holy Mother”). But in any language, Mount Everest is the roof of our planet, the highest place on Earth. Its peak is 8,848 meters (29,028 feet) above sea level—which includes a 4-meter snowcap.
