Thorong Phedi is located below Thorong La, the highest point of the Annapurna Circuit at 5,416 meters (17,769 feet). Trekkers typically reach it after trekking from Manang via Yak Kharka and Ledar. The trek can be challenging due to steep ascents and potential altitude sickness. It serves as a crucial rest stop for those undertaking the Annapurna Circuit trek, one of the most famous trekking routes in the world.

Due to the high altitude, trekkers often spend a night in Thorong Phedi to acclimatize before making the final ascent to Thorong La. Acclimatization is crucial to avoid altitude sickness, and some trekkers may choose to stay at a slightly lower altitude, such as Yak Kharka or Ledar, before moving to Thorong Phedi.

Despite the harsh conditions, the area offers stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks and landscapes, making the challenging trek worthwhile for many adventurers.
