We have successfully concluded our 7th In-House and Wilderness First Aid training. The training session lasted from 25th February to 3rd March, with over 30 participants. The first session of the training was In-House, where participants improved their leadership skills, operational knowledge, communication skills, B2B, and comprehension of the Leave No Trace Policy. We also organized the 1st Inhouse Futsal Tournament to refresh, and encourage teamwork, communication, and cohesiveness amongst the team.

The second session of the training started on 1st March and lasted for three days at Initiative Outdoor. We are pleased to announce that all our field staff are now Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunities (SOLO) certified Wilderness First Aiders.

With this knowledge and skills, we now look forward to the new Spring season with renewed optimism, drive and passion. We also express our gratitude to all the participants, staff, and partners for their unwavering support.

It's our pleasure to announce that Mr. Tikaram Acharya has been awarded the Best Leader Autumn 2022 and Mr. Ngawang Tshering Sherpa has been awarded the Best Assistant Leader Autumn 2022.

Their dedication, hard work, and leadership skills were evident throughout the season. They have consistently gone above and beyond to ensure that our guests had an unforgettable experience while maintaining the highest level of safety and security.

We are immensely proud of their achievements and grateful for their contributions to the team.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire Freedom Field team. It's their relentless efforts and dedication that made this season a resounding success. We're looking forward to the next season with renewed energy and optimism, and we can't wait to create more amazing memories for our guests.

We wish everyone a Happy and prosperous Sonam Lhosar.

Sonam Lhosar is the New Year of the Tamang and Hyolmo community residing in Nepal. The word ‘Lhosar’ means ‘New Year’ or ‘the beginning of a new era’ for the Tamangs. They are a group of individuals in Nepal who mainly live in the central highlands as well as around Kathmandu Valley.

The community makes up about 6% of Nepal’s population and is known for its unique traditions. They are known to follow an ancient Tibetan or Chinese lunar calendar. This is Loshar (New Year) usually falls on the second new moon after the winter solstice. They have a tradition of counting the year by associating each month with a different animal. These include a rat, a boar, a monkey, snakes, and several others.

Each year, the Tamangs kickstart the new year with a bang and festivities that tend to last for over a week. During the month, they clean and decorate their houses to welcome the new year. In a way, it is also like making new beginnings. Other rituals of the occasion include visiting monasteries and stupas in traditional costumes, masked dances, and rituals to drive away negative forces.

We are excited to announce the schedule for our 𝟕𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐧-𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, continuing our endeavour to improve and develop ourselves and our team. The training will start from 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝟕𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑 and will be conducted in two phases. Please note that all the staff of Freedom Adventures are required to 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐲 attend the training.
The 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞 is the 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐢𝐝 (𝐖𝐅𝐀) training organized by, Initiative Outdoor but certified by Stonehearth Open Learning Opportunities, 𝐔𝐒𝐀 being held in Thumpka, Bandipur from 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡-𝟑𝐫𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑. This training is for the staff with no valid Wilderness First Aid or equivalent certification.
The 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞 of the training is the Leadership and In-house training which will be conducted in Pokhara from 𝟒𝐭𝐡-𝟕𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑. The trainees from the first phase of training are required to meet the rest of the team at Pokhara and continue their training.

The ideal candidate will have strong creative skills and a portfolio of work which demonstrates their passion for illustration, typography and communicating stories through videos. This candidate will have experience in working with numerous different design platforms such as digital and print forms

Responsibilities
- Create and design compelling, innovative and original graphic designs for web and print media
- Manage social media platforms, posting content and maintain them according to the latest standards
- Organize, Assemble/Review Videos and create innovative and original video edits
- Collaborate with the team to ensure consistency of designs and messages across various media outlets

Requirements:
- No academic qualification is required to apply but candidates with a Bachelor’s in Information technology, computer sciences and similar fields are favoured
- Above one year of Experience working for companies in positions handling the above responsibilities
- Portfolio of work
- Training received in Graphics and Video editing will be a plus point
- Must have a strong command of the English language
- Must have flexible time and be able to work under deadlines and pressure
- Must have mastery over at least one major photo and video editing platform/software or Must be proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong communication, conceptual thinking, typography skills and design skills
- Must have their own computer that is capable of handling video editing
- Experience in the outdoor field (Hiking/Trekking/Climbing) is favored and one must be comfortable going out in the field (Running Events/Treks)

Our group sets off from Namche towards Tengboche, after taking a helicopter to Lukla due to flight delays. They showed high spirits despite Namche's rain and seem rewarded with clear skies and fantastic views. We pray that the weather will favour their journey towards the Everest Base Camp.
