Nepal went into lock-down on March 24 which was later extended until 14 June 2020.

Today is the 78th days of Nepal’s covid-19 lock-down, we managed to get a travel pass, and we traveled from home to Eyes on Nepal Tours & Treks office which is located at Chhusya Galli, Thamel, Kathmandu 44600, Nepal for the first time in more than 2 months.

Nepal international airport will resume operation on 30 June 2020 (hopefully not to be extended again) and we wish we can welcome tourists again.

We miss those times where the streets were filled with people, food stalls, colors, bikes, cars, cows, dogs etc.

Here, we shared some photos on Thamel and Kathmandu Durbar Square during the Nepal lock-down 2020 on 9 June 2020.

Mustang is an ancient forbidden kingdom, bordered by the Tibetan Plateau and
sheltered by some of world's tallest peaks, including 8000-meter tall Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.

One fascinating feature of the district are thousands of cliff dwellings, some highly inaccessible. These Mustang Caves or Sky Caves of Nepal are a collection of some 10,000 man-made caves dug into the sides of valleys in the Mustang.

Upper Mustang was a restricted area until 1992. Now, yearly permitted
visitors are kept at 1,000 people, and daily permit fees at USD 50 for
non-Nepali.

This make Upper Mustang:

1) Quite expensive to visit. You need a minimum of 8 to 10 days for a
nice trek.

2) One of the most preserved regions in the world due to its relative
isolation from the outside world, with a majority of the population still
speaking traditional Tibetic languages.

Request to be alert during trekking.

Due to heavy snowfall, four hotels in Annapurna Base Camp are totally damaged. ACAP Check post in Chhomrung is not letting trekkers to go onward but if trekkers insist on going by themselves, check post is allowing trekkers to sign a letter stated thus: “We are trekking at our own risk”.

Hotels of Machhapuchre Base Camp are safe but there are no people around. Also, two hotels of Deurali are damaged; only one hotel at Dovan and Bamboo each is opened. On the way to MBC from Deurali, there are still chances of avalanches.

We would like to alert all our member agencies about the high risk involved therein for trekkers. Further if the weather remains clear, ABC will be opened in 10-15 days.

*Note:
1. Mardi Himal Trek which was also closed due to heavy snow fall has been opened for trekking since the past one week.
2. According to the ACAP check post, it began operation from today though the routes of Manang-Tilicho, Manang-Narphu, Pisang, Manang-Thorong pass are still put on high alert. Yesterday, 16 trekkers had difficulty crossing the Thorong pass.

We will update soon as we get further information.
