Rara Lake is the biggest and deepest fresh water lake in the Nepal Himalayas of Jumla and Mugu Districts lies at an altitude of 2,990 m above sea level surrounded by Rara National Park with pine, spruce and juniper forest. Rara is known for a dreamy little piece of heaven. The best visiting time to the lake is September/October and April to May. It can be a place of quiet peaceful energy, a place to relax and reflect, to sit in a hammock and read a book or write a journal. Nepal Airlines and Tara Air operate flights to Rara from Nepalgunj. It takes approx 2 hours to reach Rara Lake from the airport on foot.
