Everest Base Camp on Nepal side - 5,364 metres - the final stop of our trek. Base camp is used by mountain climbers during their ascent and descent. It’s also visited by hikers and is very popular among tourists who want to see the place where the bravest ones start their conquering of the highest mountain on our planet.

Overnight was in Gorak Shep - the homeland of the Sherpa people, famous for their skills as guides and mountaineers. This settlement is the final stop on most common treks to Everest Base Camp from Lukla. Dalai Lana called this routes “the steps to heaven”.

A 7-hours trek to a small settlement Lobuche. It’s one of the last stops with lodging on the base camp trail before the attempts an ascent of Everest.

It’s a point from where the trekkers can decide either to complete the trail on to Everest Base Camp or to climb nearby peak, Kala Patthar (5,545 m) for rare views of the Everest summit.

In our case, we will have an excursion to Kala Patthat tomorrow and will share the amazing photos with you.

A day of trekking to Dingboche - an ultimate Sherpa village, situated on the elevation of 4410 meters above sea level. About 7 hours walking and we feel tired but this is nothing compared to the breathtaking views opened from here…

An acclimatisation day gave us an opportunity to accumulate our strength. So about 7-hours trek from Namcher Bazar to Dibuche was not that difficult. Dibuche is just 30 mins. walk from one of the main sightseeings in this area - Tengboche monastery.

This is a Tibetian Buddhism monastery of Sherpa community, built in 1916. The monastery was destroyed by the earthquakes twice and rebuilt in 1934 with the help of volunteers and international assistance.

Namcher Bazar is situated on the elevation of 3440 meters and is the starting point for those who go ahead to high Himalayas.

Today is a 6-hours trekking from Phakding to Namcher Bazar. This is the most popular place for all the trekkers as it’s used for acclimatisation before the entering the high Himalayas. Sagarmatha National Park is always situated here.

The altitude change between Bhakding and Namcher Bazar is just 800 meters, so this trekking day is supposed to be a relaxing one. Fresh air, breathtaking surroundings and snowy mountains around make you feel a part of nature.

Tomorrow is a rest day, no trekking , no hurry, just relaxation and meditation.

The first day of the Everest Base Camp trek.

5-hours driving from Kathmandu to Ramechap district. Amazing views (photos 4,5 and 6), beautiful weather and a great company. This is all necessary for the best day ever.

And, finally, we are in Manthali airport (photo 7) waiting for the flight to Lukla, which is a starting point for all Everest region treks.

15-munites flight is just a short rest before 3-hours of tiring but still so pleasant walk from Lukla (photo 3) to Phakding (photo 2 is from Ghat located in Khumbu region on elevation of 2500 meters).
