Itinerary for P**n Hill Trek
Our journey starts at Nayapul. If you are coming via Kathmandu, you might need to get down to Pokhara and then take a 1-hour drive to Nayapul. In the beginning of the trek, we will come across many local villages and tea houses, with lush green hill slopes and rivers adding beauty to the scenery. We will also need to cross the Tikhedunga Khola (river) atop a suspension bridge after which we come across a flight of stone steps. There are more than 3000 steps to reach the top, and you will be handsomely rewarded. Waiting for you at the top is the magnificent view of Mount Annapurna South(7219m) and Hiunchuli (6441m) and you can immerse yourself in it as you regain your energy.
Then we head on to Ulleri village for a night's stay. After a good night's sleep, we continue our trek mostly through a jungle for most of the day. The sounds of the jungle can be a fascinating experience especially when the birds declare their presence. You also have a good chance to see many wild birds and animals in the forest along with rhododendron flowers blooming in the wild. Moving forward, we reach our primary destination, Ghorepani/ P**n Hill, where we will halt for the night at a lodge nearby.
To see the beautiful sun rising above the snow-capped mountains, we need to get up early. We make our way up to P**n Hill, and make sure you are wearing warm clothes. It might get really cold up there. It takes almost an hour to reach the top, from where you can witness the magnificent display of the sun and the mountain ranges. This is a spiritual place that provides a majestic scenery of the sun and the mountain ranges. Sure it looks like magic when all the nearby ranges come along as if to support the sun to rise and help him to reach the sky. After sunrise, after witnessing all the wonderful display by the sun and the mountains, we head back to Ghorepani for breakfast.
We then continue our journey (which is a 6-7 hours walk) towards Ghandruk(1939m), taking a steep uphill path first to reach Deurali Pass, which resembles the elevation at P**n Hill. You will come across views of the mountain ranges (we saw earlier) again, as we move on and make our way down to reach Tadapani. We continue our trek after a brief rest and pass through Bhaisi Kharka (Buffalo Pasture) before we reach the village of Ghandruk. Ghandruk is one of the villages with the highest population of Gurung people. You can learn many things about the Gurung culture in the Gurung Culture Museum. We spend our night at a lodge in Ghandruk.
On a clear morning, one can get to see the view of Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre(fishtail) and Annapurna III up close while you have your breakfast. We head towards Kimche from here which is almost an hour walk through green pastures. Then we take 3 hours to drive back to Pokhara from Kimche for an overnight stay at your hotel in Pokhara. The itinerary may vary if you choose to go to Kathmandu on the very same day. After which your short but fun-filled trek comes to an end.
As mentioned earlier, the trek is not a difficult one and anyone fit enough to walk for a few hours can make the trek. The ascent of the stone steps before reaching Ulleri might be a challenge for some, and you can opt to take measures to train yourself before you embark on this trip.
