This festival typically falls on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in the month of Bhadrapada, which usually falls in August or September of the Gregorian calendar.

Here are some key aspects and traditions associated with Krishna Janmashtami:

Date: The date of Krishna Janmashtami varies each year based on the Hindu lunar calendar. It is celebrated on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada.

Fasting: Many devotees fast on this day until midnight when it is believed that Lord Krishna was born. Some may choose to abstain from food and water, while others may consume only certain types of foods.

Devotional Songs: Bhajans (devotional songs) and kirtans (hymns) dedicated to Lord Krishna are sung throughout the day, especially in temples and homes. These songs depict the life and exploits of Krishna.

Midnight Celebration: The birth of Lord Krishna is celebrated at midnight with great enthusiasm. In order to further facilitate the exchange of Chinese and foreigners, the following adjustments to visas and entry policies for foreigners to China will be effective from 0:00 on March 15, 2023, Beijing time:

1. The entry function of visas issued before March 28, 2020 and within the effective period will be resumed.

2. The Chinese Embassy in Nepal will resume the review and issue of all types of visas for foreigners to China, including visas for tourist and medical affairs. Please refer to the relevant instructions for details.

3. Port visa authorities will resume the review and issue of all kinds of port visas for legal reasons.

4. The following visa-free policies will be resumed: Hainan 59 country visa-free entry policy, 15-Day visa-free travel for cruise groups at Shanghai ports, visa-free entry to Guangdong Province for foreigners’ group from Hong Kong and Macao SARs, visa-free entry to Guilin of Guangxi Autonomous Region for tourist groups from ASEAN countries.

Notice on Covid-19 Prevention and Control Requirements for China-bound Travelers(starting from 15 March, 2023)

In accordance with the current situation of COVID-19 pandemic and to facilitate people-to-people exchanges, starting from 15 March, 2023, Antigen Rapid Test (ART, including ART home testing kit) result will be accepted for air passengers flying directly from Nepal to China instead of nucleic acid test. The Chinese Embassy in Nepal has updated its Guide on Epidemic Prevention and Control Measures for China-bound Travelers. In order to avoid any travel delays and disruptions, we recommend that all travelers read and follow the instructions on the guidance carefully.

Guide on Epidemic Prevention and Control Measures For China-bound Travelers

（Starting from March 15, 2023）

I.Pre-boarding Nucleic Acid Test

All China-bound travelers will need to take nucleic acid test or Antigen Rapid Test (ART, including ART home testing kit) for COVID-19 within 48 hours before boarding, and can only travel to China when your test result is negative. If you received a positive test result, you should only travel to China when you tested negative for COVID-19.

ll.Health Declaration to China Customs

You are required to declare your negative test result to China Customs by filling the Health Declaration Form on the WeChat mini-program of China Customs (scan the QR code below), or at https://htdecl.chinaport.gov.cn, or via the China Customs APP.

Ill. Airline companies will no longer check the negative test results.

IV. Self-protection on the Aircraft

You are suggested to wear a mask throughout the flight and take good personal protection to reduce the risk of infection

V. Inspection upon Entry

You can go through customs with your health declaration result, and China Customs may conduct random sampling inspection according to a certain proportion. lf there are anomalies in your health declaration or you are showing symptoms such as fever, you are required to take a test by China Customs. Those whose results are positive will need to self-quarantine or seek medical treatment as notified by the authority. Those whose results are negative will go through routine quarantine inspection by China Customs in accordance with the Frontier Health and Quarantine Law and other laws and regulations.

VI. After-entry Epidemic Prevention and Control

After entry into China, you will have to strictly abide by the epidemic prevention and control requirements of the place where you stay.
