On DHAULAGIRI this season, one of our Expedition Base team members, Tracee Metcalfe, MD (USA), assisted so many people across teams with medical advice, support and treatment and worked along side the Nepal Army medical team. Thank you, Tracee, for everything you did for so many - the true spirit of the mountains comes from when everyone works together to support each other. Congratulations also, of course, on your Annapurna summit. Dhaulagiri will be ready to welcome climbers again next time! ❤❤

Dhaulagiri had challenging weather conditions this season, heavy snowfall, less consolidation, higher than normal avalanche risk, so time to close on this mountain for the season for us and our climbing team. After stable weather on Annapurna, the weather has not really co-operated so much since. Our team are safe off the mountain, in KTM, and some flying home soon. Well done to everyone. To Nepal, we wish you safety and good health with Covid causing challenges to many. May everything get better soon.

Expedition Base team members are at Dhaulagiri base camp, planning to head up the mountain for a rotation tomorrow, weather and conditions permitting. Its been a mixed bag so far regarding weather. Luckily, the team are not in a hurry, they can take their time. They are acclimatised and where they need to be - resting, eating, keep warm, doing a few hikes around the area to keep the blood flowing and enjoying being in the mountains. All the best, team. We are watching and wishing you the very best!

A few shots of two of the fastest climbers on the big Himalayan mountains these days: USA elite climber of more than 200 expeditions to the mountains, Chris Warner, and Expedition Base’s the elite Chhiring Sherpa. They love the long days so summiting Annapurna 1 from C3 and by return was not out of the ordinary for them. Well done. Wishing you safety and success for your next climb.

The whole Expedition Base team is at ANNAPURNA 1 BC resting up and eating after coming off the mountain - well done to our five (5) summiteers and all team members on the mountain - great effort for all. Most of the team will soon be readying to go to... DHAULAGIRI (file photo), the world's 7th highest mountain. It is great to have mountain activity and climbers in abundance in Nepal again.

Annapurna 1 - Expedition Base team members are all now at C2 or below, with some having now arrived at BC. Conditions on Annapurna 1 this season combined with a good weather day for summiting means Annapurna 1 experienced a record number of summits yesterday - reportedly 69 summits!! - more than any season to date. As we mentioned, climbers targeting 15th and 15th had to drop back to 16th so numbers converged on a single day.

Annapurna 1 is known for its avalanche risk but whilst 2015 avalanched really regularly along parts of the route, 2016 was much less and conditions this season have presented more like 2016. The crux of the route - C2 to C3 - was in very good condition these last few days - better even than 2016 and some years since. Congratulations all climbers on the mountain.

Annapurna 1 - The whole climbing team for Expedition Base is leaving tonight (Nepal, local time) for the summit! Conditions are good. Weather forecast is good. Everyone is resting up. The route is set to around ~7,700m approximately and a long line drop of additional rope occurred today with 1000 metres of additional rope. Annapurna 1's summit is 8,091m.

Teams that had previously planned to try for the summit on 14th and 15th April have dropped back to a 16th April summit schedule so all climbers on the mountain at either C3 or C4 who plan to go for the summit will be leaving tonight, all going to plan! We wish everyone safe passage to the summit and down again.

Our Annapurna 1 Expedition is progressing well with team members at C2 and C3 with a scheduled target to reach the summit on April 16th, weather and conditions permitting. So far, the mountain has offered very good conditions to our and other teams this season. The Expedition Base team are each and all feeling healthy and strong. We are watching the weather forecasts, and making sure the team members have the best chance for success. Go team, good luck! Take care, and have fun!
