"We have forgotten how to be ourselves. If you think about it, you realise that we are constantly copying and comparing ourselves to others. We copy the way other people live, the way they eat or dress. If somebody else is wearing a new style of clothes, tomorrow you will go out and buy the same for yourself. If that woman is wearing this dress, it must be very attractive so I should also buy it. Then, comparisons set in; we begin to judge ourselves to be better or worse than others. We get out of our boxes again, labelling people, labelling ourselves, feeling jealous or proud rather than simply content to be ourselves. When the ego is in control of our faculties, we use a tremendous amount of energy to try to manipulate things to be just right, but then what we have created covers the intrinsic beauty of our own nature. Fabrication always results in a lot of problems, and then disappointment follows because you were expecting too much."
