As the holy month of Ramadhan unfolds, mass Iftar gatherings have become a defining feature across Oman. These communal meals, held at mosques, public spaces and business compounds, bring together people from all walks of life, fostering a sense of unity, generosity and shared devotion.

Among the many such gatherings, the daily Iftar at Muttrah Souq has emerged as a remarkable initiative, drawing widespread attention. Organised by labourers, employers and local benefactors, the initiative feeds nearly 1,000 people each evening — amounting to an estimated 30,000 Iftars over the course of the month.
