Island peak 6189m,

The peak was named Island Peak in 1951 by Eric Shipton's party since it appears as an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche. The peak was later renamed in 1983 to Imja Tse but Island Peak remains the popular choice. The peak is actually an extension of the ridge coming down off the south end of Lhotse.

Island peak climbing,

Island Peak (Nepali: Imja Tse) at 6189m is a popular destination for trekkers and climbers alike. Its popularity is owed to the fact that the route traverses along the route to Everest Base Camp – the gateway to the highest peak of the world and with a difficulty rating of Alpine PD+, summiting the peak does not demand you be a veteran climber; however, a certain level of fitness is expected. The name was given by Eric Shipton’s party because it appears as an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche.
Our journey begins with a short flight to Lukla, the gateway to Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park. Retracing the footsteps of legends Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Edmund Hillary we tread across the land of the ‘Sherpas’ – the respected mountaineers. Stunning backdrops of some of the highest peaks of the world – Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, picturesque sceneries, monasteries that evoke reverence with the wind, gushing rivers, the route to EBC is paradise on earth, and being atop Island Peak, well you will have to experience it to know it.

Gokyo Lake,
Introduction
Lakes, glaciers, some of the world’s highest mountain peaks, an adventurous trek through the Solukhumbu region (the land of the famous Sherpas), sacred monasteries, pristine panoramic landscapes– a trek to Gokyo Cho La Pass and Everest Base Camp is an experience like no other. Also known as the Everest Circuit trekking route, the Gokyo Cho La pass trek followed by a trip to the Everest Base Camp is an alternate for the regular EBC – but packed with extra experiences.
We head north from Lukla, the gateway to the Everest Region and begin our circuit a little ahead of Namche Bazar. Passing through scenic villages and picturesque landscapes of Gokyo Valley we walk beside the moraines of Nzogumpa Glacier to reach the pure turquoise lakes high amidst the Himalayas. The blue lakes amidst the high Himalayas and a small village is often described as ‘heaven on earth’ – only entitled to the eyes of the bold travelers who reach there. After summiting the Gokyo Ri (5,360) and taking in the mesmerizing views, we head towards Khumbu Valley to reach EBC via Cho La Pass (5420m). Watch Everest up close and several other Himalayan peaks from Kala Patthar before heading back down to complete the circuit at Namche Bazar.
This route takes us through the heart of the Himalayas – we will be surrounded by monumental peaks – Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Ama Dablam to name a few.

The Annapurna Foot Hills Trek is popular owing to the following reasons – it offers stunning vistas of the mighty Annapurnas and the surrounding Himalayan peaks, it offers a fascinating peek into the Gurung culture of Nepal, and lastly, it is not as physically challenging in terms of duration and altitude. This trek for many is an introduction to the magnificent experience that is trekking.

Beginning with a drive from Pokhara to Phedi and start the hike to Dhampus. Walking under the warm sun through terraced rice and paddy fields, we pass by charming villages mostly inhabited by the Gurungs & Magars. Crossing thick rhododendron forests bursting in red during spring, the landscapes are picturesque. As we watch the sun rise and set along the snow-capped Himalayan peaks; the dance of the orange hues nothing short of heaven.

We spend the first night in Dhampus, climb further up to reach Landrung the next day. The third day we trek to Ghandrung is a short trek. We spend the afternoon exploring this famous village with its museum and a small monastery. We ascend the next day to Chommrong from where we get the closest views of the Annapurna ranges. Head further up to reach Tadapani where we spend a night and on our sixth day we reach Ghorepani which at an altitude of 2860 meters is the highest point of our overnight stay. A major highlight of this trek is to climb P**n Hill (3,210m) from Ghorepani to watch the sunrise. Many visitors have been in awe of the sunrise as the ray’s shine over the Himalayan giants (Dhaulagiri, 8167m, Machhapuchhre, 6997m, Annapurna South, 7219m, and Annapurna I, 8091m). The sunrise from P**n Hill is said to one of the most magnificent sunrises ever seen by many travelers – divine and mesmerizing at the same time.

Solukhumbu: Tourists are not allowed to walk alone in the Everest region. The police said that since the tourists who came from different countries to visit the Everest region go on a tour alone, they have been strictly restricted. Sunil Jang Shah, Chief of Police and Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Police Office Solukhumbu, said that this rule has been strictly enforced since the disappearance of 2 foreign tourists who visited Khumbu area on May 5th has increased.

A companion is mandatory for visiting the area above the Namche Police Station because after reaching the high Himalayan region, you will get sick, get sick and suffer from various disasters. It has also instructed the Namche police to be strict in checking. Sirnath Chandra Mohan, 31, an Indian citizen, and Yohan, a 50-year-old Korean citizen, have been out of touch since May 5. The Nepal Police and the Nepali Army have been deployed to search for the missing persons, but they have not been able to find them yet, the police said.
