The month Sawan is almost around the corner. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and holds a special significance in Hinduism. The month is also known as the month of Shravan. Sawan, the fourth month of the Hindu calendar, falls during the month of July-August. Monday is the day, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and observing fast on Mondays in the month of Sawan is considered to be highly auspicious. The word ‘Somwar’ originates from the Sanskrit word ‘Soma’ means Chandra, the Hindu deity Moon and Lord Shiva wears a crescent moon on his forehead that is why Lord Shiva is known as 'Someshwara'.Also, they worship Goddess Parvati for a better, more peaceful and prosperous life.

Patan Durbar Square consists of many temples and palaces. The palaces are now converted into museums and used for many other public purposes.

Buddha Purnima is the most sacred day in the Buddhist calendar. It is the most important Buddhist festival, and it is widely celebrated all over the globe. Although Buddhists believe every full moon is sacred, the moon of the month of Vaisakh has special significance since it is on this day that the Lord Buddha was born in what is now Nepal over 3,000 years ago, attained enlightenment (nirvana), and achieved parinirvana (nirvana-after-death of the body) when he died.
One of Buddha’s conclusions was that desire is the cause of all suffering and of all evil. He also taught many other principles, morals, and mantras that Buddhists devoutly remember during Buddha Jayanti.
On Buddha Purnima, people dress in white and distribute kheer (rice pudding) because, according to folklore, a woman named Sujata once presented Gautam Buddha with kheer on his birthday, and it has since become a tradition........................................................

Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, in the Terai plains of Nepal is one of the greatest pilgrimage sites for Buddhists.
Lumbini is broken up into a main complex called the Lumbini Development Zone — a grand three miles long — is part of a huge UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It consists of dozens of monasteries built by several Buddhist countries (all in their national styles), the sacred Bodhi tree, an ancient bathing pond,
the renowned Ashokan pillar, and the Mayadevi Temple.
The nativity site is marked by a commemorative pillar erected by Mauryan Emperor Ashoka of India during his pilgrimage to the holy site in 249 BC.
To the north of the Sacred Garden are monastic zones where different countries have built temples and monasteries depicting different sects of Buddhism.
More than 400,000 Buddhists and non Buddhists visit Lumbini every year.

Rara National Park, the smallest protected area of Nepal, covering 106 kms and 198 kms as its buffer zone, lies in North-Western high mountains of Karnali Pradesh. Established in 1976 to conserve the uniqueness of extremely popular Rara Lake, the park has been protecting flora and fauna of the Humla-Jumla region along with the lake.
Comprising of two beautiful villages – Rara and Chhapru, the residents of the communities were resettled in Banke District. Rara Lake – also known as Mahendra Tal, lying at an elevation of 2,990 m, is the gem of the park. Having an oval-shape, the lake is the biggest in Nepal, with an area of 10.8 kms. Home to only one species of fish – Snow Trout, the lake reflects the beautiful blue color of the sky and is a popular destination of migratory birds.
The park lies at an altitude of 2,80 m to 4,039 m with Chuchemara Peak lying at the highest elevation. The beauty of the park is the pristine panoramic views of alluring snow-capped summits like Ruma kand and Malika Kand on the north.
Rara Lake is likewise referred to as the Queen of the lakes. The lovely lake, the plush of the temperate flora, the exceptional plants and fauna of this location and the people with warm hospitality make this trek a completely unique adventure that one will cherish all their life.
The best time to visit the park is from September to October. The winter in the region is quite cold, dropping below freezing point, with high snowfalls that close the high passes.

Lumbini is the place where the story of Lord Buddha - the founder of Buddhism - begins and is one of the holiest places of one of the world's great religions, and its remains contain important evidence about the nature of Buddhist pilgrimage centres from as early as the 3rd century BC.

Lumbini, a “UNESCO World Heritage Site”, is also known as “Pradimoksha Vana ''.

Lumbini lies in the foothills of the Himalaya located in the southern part of Nepal, near the present Indian border.

The holy site has a sacred Bodhi tree, Ashoka Pillar, the Pushkarini (an ancient bathing pond), World Peace Pagoda, Lumbini Museum, the Maya Devi Temple - the supposed place of Lord Buddha’s birth and many more monastery built by different countries.

The other site is linked to the life of the Buddha includes Tilaurakot where Prince Siddhartha lived luxury before taking the path to enlightenment. Pandirarama Vipassana Center can be visited for some yoga and meditation and interact with the monk.

Lumbini Garden covers an area of about 2.56 sq km which encompasses three zones each covering with walkways and a canal. You can walk around the garden or find a peaceful meditative a spot to contemplate.

GUPTESHWOR MAHADEV CAVE - A SACRED CAVE UNDERNEATH A WATERFALL.......................................................................
Caves have always been mysterious, but what makes Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave unique is that it has a religious bent too.
The Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave (also known as Bhalu Dulo in local tongue) is one of the longest caves in Nepal, stretching over 2,000 metres. The cave is located across from Davi's Fall, and inside, one can hear the thunderous sound of water.
According to local legend, the cave was discovered in the 16th century.
One of the massive stalagmites is popularly worshipped as Shiva Lingam.
The Gupteshwar Mahadev Cave is a combination of Devi's Fall upstream and the cave downstream; to get a close look, climb the metal stairs.
Overall, discovering the cave is an exciting adventure.
The peaceful atmosphere of the cave will calm your senses and allow you to reflect a little.
It's a pleasant place to unwind in the midst of the city's usual hustle and bustle.
