Drift along torqoise blue waters in the middle of the hills just 40 km or 1 ½-hour drive, from Kathmandu Valley! You can even hike up there and back within a day or two.
#IndraSarovar in #Makwanpur district, is a charming little lake on the outskirts of the Valley, that waits to be discovered. The lake is part of the #KulekhaniDam that opened for hydropower in 1982. On the north western corner is the quaint little village of #Markhu offering local cultural experience and hospitality.
Hiking follows the ancient route in and out of the Valley that includes Thankot-Chitlang-Markhu-Kulekhani.

GUN-LA FESTIVAL | A Month Long Buddhist Festival of Nepal
Gun-La is the tenth month of Nepal Sambat lunar calendar which usually falls in the month August during mid monsoon. The month is celebrated by Newari-Buddhists who offer prayers and devotional music to the Buddha at sacred Buddhist sites. Gun-La is an important event among the communities that celebrate the festival. This practice of observing Gun-La dates back to the Buddha's time when monks gathered during the period and studied Dharma. Hope you enjoy this video of the festival of Gun-La celebrated in Kathmandu Valley.
