Well the ski season is nearly over we have had a few keen skiers come and stay. Looks a beautiful day up on Hutt today but I guess the strong winds earlier may have caused some issues. Spring is definately on its way and the daffodils are looking great as is the blossom on the fruit trees. I love this time of year as the garden springs into life.

Well we have had some spectacular hot days of late, with all the rain the gardens are looking wonderful. Our guests have enjoyed wandering and sitting in the garden with the scent of Lillies in the air. This morning we were surprised to find Winter had returned on Mt Somers with a nice dusting of snow so pretty with the sun on it.
We have a few days vacant in February so if you feel like a wee break in peaceful Mt Somers please get in touch, we live sharing our piece of paradise with others.

Well another year gone let's hope 2022 is going to be a great year. We have had quite a few people staying in the last few months and of course many cancellations due to Covid with people unable to travel into New Zealand which is a bit annoying as reservation book is looking very messy with white out here and there. However we have enjoyed meeting our guests and look forward to a better year in 2022.

Well we are back up and running now covid levels have reduced. Sadly we lost many bookings both from New Zelanders and Australians. We were booked solidly with very few days spare through July to October. So many people missed out on the winter ski holidays. Onward and upward we have had a couple of new bookings which is great. We have been rather busy over these last few months especially since Mt Hutt Ski field opened. Many of our guests have been off skiing most days and have had some wonderful times on the field. July was absolutely full we had only 2 days with out guests so that has been great meeting all of them., August is also reasonably full although still a few spaces. Looking forward to the spring and summer and the warm evenings and the garden in full bloom. Hope you are all staying warm during these winter days.

It’s been awhile since we have posted. We are still getting a number of bookings which is wonderful. We are meeting some fantastic people from all over our beautiful country. The weather has been great although mornings and evenings are getting cooler and darker but most days a still lovely and warm. We have bookings thru till early August several people have booked for the winter season in the hope of skiing and snowboarding for a week or two. Let’s pray for heaps of snow but beautiful days.

We have had some lovely people come and stay this month our last couple were celebrating their 47th Wedding anniversary, such lovely people. We don't at this stage have any bookings for the rest of December so if anyone is thinking they might like a wee break before Christmas please get in touch.

Well we are busy between guests installing a range hood and dishwasher which at this stage is going quite well., Yesterday with the start of the rangehood installation things didn't quite go to plan but this morning it is up and running looks pretty good so we are happy, With luck the dishwasher will be installed and running today. All progress to make the cottage a better experience for our guests.

Hi one and all. Well, sadly we lost our next 3 month June through to end September booking due to covid but it was to be expected with borders being closed. Never mind onward and upward, we have opened those dates back up and we have had 3 new enquires and 2 bookings so not all doom and gloom. One of our bookings is from a wonderful couple from Timaru who come to stay in the cottage a couple of times each year, it’s wonderful to have returning guests and getting to know them, we figure we must be doing something right. Weather is not great tonight it’s absolutely pouring down but this will be good for Mt Hutt right on our door step a beautiful view when the skies clear. We may even have snow on the ground here later this week so that will be fun. Stay safe everyone.

Hope everyone is doing ok and staying safe and well. Our wee cottage still has a young couple that came for lock down they are moving on sometime next week. Once all clean and tidy it will be ready to have some new guests, although we still don't know if the Japanese guest is still coming on the 30th June or not its a wait and see thing. I do hope they are as that is another 3 months booked. Then it will be nearly summer and we will be good to go again. Have missed meeting different people over this period of lock down etc but hopefully things will get back to near normal and we can have many new people coming in. Take care everyone

Well life has certainly been a bit different over the last couple of months. We still have the young couple staying here that came for the lock down. They have had some work in the area so have decided to stay on until the end of the May at this stage and then we will open the cottage up again for guests. We still have a booking from a person from Japan who was to come for 3 months and take lessons up at Mt Hutt unsure if that will be happening they haven't cancelled as yet so its a wait and see, they are due at the end of June. Has been lovely weather here although today we had a good frost so winter is on its way. We have had hardly any rain so have had to keep watering the garden. Hope you are all safe and well remember if you want a quiet weekend away to relax in the peace of the country get in touch.

What a strange new world we are living in at the moment isn't it. We have had many cancellations for obvious reasons this nasty virus. We then had a rush on earlier this weeks for travellers to book the cottage for a month. There were 5 different groups wanting to hunker down here for the lock down period. We ended up with a lovely young couple that have been in NZ since beginning of January so they are now living in the cottage until late April or until the lock down is lifted. We were happy to be able to help them and we hope the others who made enquiries were able to get somewhere as well. Our May bookings are now starting to cancel which is a shame but we completely understand.

Well with this virus being around we have unfortunately had some cancellations from overseas visitors. We have a few NZ travellers booked but we now have vacancies for anyone thinking of having a wee break away in the country. It is peaceful and quiet here and at this stage miles from the virus. Get in contact if you would like a holiday.

We are into it now the new year has started off really well with a few last minute bookings and also some longer ones which is fantastic. We have a couple arriving today for a week and yesterday got a booking for the winter for nearly 3 months. Looking forward to meeting all our new guests. Shaping up to being a great year.
