New Job Check and accreditation rules

Starting on October 29, 2023, employers will be prohibited from incorporating 90-day job trial periods into employment agreements under the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) scheme. This prohibition applies not only to new employment agreements but also to previously submitted Job Checks assessed on or after this date.

A revised accreditation standard for the AEWV will mandate that employers do not include any trial periods in their employment agreements.

New Skilled Migration Category Resident Visa to open today (9th October 2023)
Applicants who wish to apply for the Skilled Migrant Category Resident Visa will need to meet one of the following:
• Occupational registration
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher level qualification, or
• A skilled job earning at least 1.5 x the median wage in New Zealand
If applicants do not gain enough points through one of the skill pathways as explained above, they will need to gain additional points through having skilled work experience in New Zealand.
Amongst other requirements, the most important points to consider are:
1- Applicants must have a skilled job offer in New Zealand
2- They must meet the Minimum English Language requirements
3- They must also meet health and character requirements
Introducing Interim Visa from SMC applicants
From Today, a new interim visa for Skilled Migrant Category Resident Visa resident visa applications will be implemented. This is an additional offering to visa holders on the path to residence, removing the requirement for Skilled Migrant Category Resident Visa applicants to renew their temporary visa while awaiting their application's outcome. These changes also apply to dependents and partners of Skilled Migrant Category Resident Visa applicants.

Applicants who transfer onto a Skilled Migrant Category Interim Visa will also receive multiple entry travel conditions, allowing them to leave New Zealand and return on the same interim visa while it is valid.

Comparison between 2021 Resident Visa and Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) Approval rate.
Source: INZ(decisions till 31 Dec 2021- report issued on 5th January 2022)
2021 RV looks much easier as compared to SMC but the decline rate is higher as compared to SMC

Not much to worry about it, just be careful and follow the Immigration Instructions and Law.
