" I felt like I had my own holiday home for the three evenings I stayed in Ponsonby"

"I recently stayed for three evenings at McGrigors in Ponsonby. This was my initial stop on a three week tour of New Zealand. I have to stay that my stay here was fantastic, Brian really made an effort to provide as much assistance as I required. Brian responded to my enquiries promptly prior to my arrival and was more than happy to greet me early in the morning following my arrival from the airport. Complimentary milk, fruit and chocolate was provided for me upon my arrival. Additionally I had the use of a washing machine and dryer which is always handy when travelling. I felt like I had my own holiday home for the three evenings I stayed in Ponsonby. The location is approximately a 5 minute walk to Ponsonby Rd, where a plethora of cafes, restaurants, bars and shopping facilities can be found. You can also catch a bus into central Auckland city in approximately 15mins. I would like to aim to stay at McGrigors again should I be fortunate enough to be holidaying again in the near future in Auckland."

FRANKLIN RD CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
December 1 -Franklin Rd Christmas lights go on. The street will light up, as it has for the past 19 years, with garlands of lights for public viewing until Christmas Eve.
Entertainment includes musicians and dancers, a sausage sizzle, chicken barbecue and coffee cart.
In the final week before Christmas Eve, Santa and his elves will be walking the street, giving out free lollies to kids.
The whole event is run by volunteers who are passionate about keeping the lights on every Christmas for Aucklanders, as they have been doing since the 1990s. Franklin Road is a high profile street and approximately 105 out of 115 houses on the street are decorated by the occupants with Christmas lights. Almost everyone in the street chooses to participate.
The event has become hugely popular with children and adults with over 100,000 people expected to view the spectacular this year.
The lights will turn on during the evenings from December 1 to Christmas Eve, switching off at 11pm every night to conserve energy.
