“I enjoyed absolutely everything about this tour - the length of the tour, the amazing tour guide, the variety of venues and experiences it offered, the accommodations, my group - this was the perfect tour for me to fully experience my 48-year #1 bucket list destination.

This tour surpassed my wildest dreams in leaps and bounds. Every day I felt such gratitude for the sites and people that were part of the journey. New Zealand has such a vast array of climates and environments, and we were able to visit every last one of them, in my estimation. The hotels were in amazing locations, and even though it was high season for travelers in New Zealand, none of our destinations were overcrowded, and at many, we were the only tour group around.

I felt that MoaTrek had access to various boat, plane and helicopter experiences, as well as meals, wine tastings, and restaurants that many tours do not. There were always numerous suggestions for dining, and these did not disappoint. We had beautiful weather, which was a bonus, but even if there was some rain, it contributed to the rushing waterfalls, and the sun always came out for us in the end.

“We could not have asked for a better New Zealand experience!! The small group 21-Day Kakapo Tour with MoaTrek was an amazing experience that will be remembered forever. This was a well run and dynamic adventure from the very beginning.

Our guide, Chris Tydings was just AWESOME, and he really made the trip for our iwi !!
He brought our tour alive with his colorful and insightful narratives throughout the journey. Kakapo 21 day North & South Island tour

The sun was shining as our passengers cruised around the Bay of Islands, and lucky for them, the dolphins were out to play. 🐬

Swimming right up against the boat, and jumping out of the water, this pod of dolphins put on a show for our passengers, and what an experience that was. Seeing the beautiful New Zealand sea life up close makes for an unforgettable experience.

Recently, on our first Kaka tour of the season, our Kiwi Guide Dermot presented our Supplier of the Year award for 23/24 to Antony from Air Milford!

Our 2024 bi-annual Kiwi Guide Conference was an absolute success! While it was a full on 3-days, it was an unforgettable experience full of learning, connecting and plenty of fun! Stories were shared, and fears were faced as we geared up for our special dawn activity with Rotorua Canopy Tours.

Excitingly, as the first tours of the season are about to kick off, it is incredibly valuable to have the whole company come together to learn from each other and provide valuable feedback, ensuring we continue to provide the best experience for you.

We have some exciting news...the team has been busy designing a brand new 12 Day South Island Tour - the 'Kiwi'. The first departure of the Kiwi tour is 12 October 2025.

This tour covers the very best of the South Island – Aoraki/Mt Cook, Queenstown, Milford Sound, the West Coast Glaciers and Punakaiki. Cruising in the stunning Abel Tasman National Park, visiting the spectacular Kaikoura coastline, as well as a special Marlborough winery lunch and tasting along the way are all special highlights.

This experience includes three multi night stays - Queenstown (3 nights) • Punakaiki (2 nights) • Nelson (2 nights) and takes in 6 different national parks - Aoraki/Mt Cook, Mt Aspiring, Fiordland, Westland Tai Poutini, Paparoa and Abel Tasman.

Like all our tours, this is a small group experience, with no more than 18 travellers on each tour, and guided by our experienced and friendly Kiwi Guide.

As part of our 2024 biennial Kiwi Guide Conference, a special dawn activity had been organised for our staff with the incredible team at Rotorua Canopy Tours .

We ventured through the prehistoric native forest by way of ziplines, swing bridges, cliff walks, treetop platforms, and more – giving us a tour of the forest like never before. Along with assisting us through the tour, the knowledgeable and experienced Canopy Guides also took us on a learning journey about our birds, plants, and ecosystems and the incredible conservation work they are doing!

SHOW STEALER. With a view like this, it’s usually the two tallest peaks in NZ that steal the show, but on this morning the pretty pastel pink cloud was the winner! No matter how many times I visit this place, I’m always awed by the view, but these were the loveliest skies I’ve experienced. Oh and by the way, Happy World Photography Day 🌎📸

Wow, this is special news for our namesake, the extinct flightless Moa bird! A new discovery of Moa footprints over 1 million years old!

The find, near the Kaipara Peninsula's South Head, was only the 14th recorded discovery of moa footprints in 150 years.
