Ready for your next adventure?

Located roughly north-east of Wellington and south-west of Hawke's Bay, the Wairarapa region is a hidden gem waiting to be explored - and our 7 day Wairarapa Wandering tour offers you the complete local experience!

Take a look at our itinerary below:

👉Day 1: Auckland - Hawke's Bay
After leaving Auckland we lunch at Taupo at Lava Glass Cafe and visit Lynden Over's glass blowing studio and enchanting sculpture garden. We travel over the rugged ranges to the Hawke's Bay and check into Scenic Te Pania Hotel on the waterfront and dine in the hotel.

👉Day 2: Napier - Martinborough
This morning a specialist Art Deco guide shares the stories of the 1931 earthquake with us. We also check out Havelock North before heading south to the farming towns of Waipukurau, Norsewood and Dannevirke.

We meet our guide at Pukaha National Wildlife Centre and see the Kaka at feeding time, also Kiwi, Kokako, Takahe and Tuatara. In the late afternoon we reach Martinborough and nearby is our base for the next three nights, the Brackenridge Country Retreat.

👉Day 3, 4 & 5: Wairarapa Sightseeing
Over the next few days we really do wander around the Wairarapa, soaking up history and nature aplenty. Among other things, we'll experience:
- The dramatic Cape Palliser Lighthouse - a feature of the area since 1897 (and still shining today)
- A breeding seal colony - the largest in the North Island
- Lunch at historic Lake Ferry Hotel overlooking Palliser Bay
- A full scale adaption of the original Stonehenge (it has to be seen to be believed)
- The world's only fully restored Fell engine which once worked on the steep Remutaka Incline
- Lunch with Luke at Longbush Cottage Gardens and Emporium
- Te Papa Museum in Wellington

👉Day 6: Wellington - Taupo
In Foxton, de Molen, a full size 17th century replica windmill, takes pride of place. We lunch with Sue and David Sweet at Mairenui Farm, near Mangaweka and enjoy their warm country hospitality. We arrive at the Millennium Hotel and Resort Manuels on Lake Taupo and dine in this evening.

👉Day 7: Taupo - Auckland
After a walk on Taupo’s lakefront and to view the spectacular Huka Falls, we head to lunch in a special oasis, the Sculpture Park at Waitakaruru Arboretum. We stroll the art-in-nature trail before heading back to Auckland in the mid afternoon.

This unique itinerary includes everything you need for a stress free tour:
• All breakfasts, lunches and dinners
• All accommodation
• Our friendly, experienced Kiwi Guide
• All experiences mentioned above, as well as many others
• A small group with no more than 18 people on board

Kaikoura & Classic Fighters Omaka Airshow 5 day tour

This coming Easter, we’re heading down to Omaka to watch the Classic Fighters Airshow held in the Omaka Airfield every two years.

Established in 2001 by the Marlborough Warbirds Association, their vision was to create an airshow that not only displayed vintage aircraft but also provided historical reenactments, bringing aviation history to life for attendees.

Not only do we attend the opening night of the show, complete with a fireworks display, but the tour includes Gold Pass access - meaning we get the best views and the best food.

Other highlights include:
🥪Lunch at Flaxmere Farm, set in beautiful gardens
🐋Visit Fyffe House, built on whalebones in the 1840s
🦭Explore the Kaikoura Coast, including the seal colony
✈️Sir Peter Jackson’s Knights of the Sky exhibition at Omaka
🚤Private catamaran launch cruise through the stunning Queen Charlotte Sound

Recently, news website Stuff published an article about Great Barrier Island that caught our eye and we just had to share.

An American travel magazine named Aotea Great Barrier Island as 'one of the best off-the-beaten-track places to visit in 2025.' You can read the article here: https://www.stuff.co.nz/travel/360490257/grid-nz-island-named-one-best-beaten-track-places-visit-2025?__s=######x

Of course, this is no surprise to us - we love the island, and our tours there are very popular - so if you want to see what the fuss is all about, join us on one of our five day all-inclusive escapes to this little slice of paradise.

Visit our website to learn more about the tour, or to check availability. https://www.moatours.co.nz/new-zealand-tours/aotea-great-barrier-island-escape

One of our favourite parts about our tours, is all the incredible people we meet along the way. There is nothing we love more than connecting with you, hearing your stories, and bringing people from all walks of life together.

Here is a look back at our previous East Cape Caper tours where we spent 6-days travelling around the East Cape, visiting gems from Whakatane to Waihau Bay and Hicks Bay. Our next East Cape Caper tour is coming up in November and we can't wait to tour this beautiful region again with our travellers. If you'd like to join us, check out the itinerary on the link below.

Southern Odyssey & Stewart Island - 7 day tour

Kaka on your balcony, fresh seafood at the South Sea Hotel, golden sand beaches and friendly locals are just a few of many reasons to fly over to Stewart Island! The Catlins coast is similar – untouched, raw beauty and a real sense of discovery.

Throw in some Scottish Heritage in Dunedin with visits to Olveston House and Larnach Castle and visit the only mainland albatross colony in the world. It's no wonder this is one of our most popular tours!

Everything is included - all meals, activities, entrance fees, accommodation and the knowledge and experience of our expert Kiwi Guide. Flights from Auckland included but ask us about joining from other regions. With just 18 travellers on board, it's like travelling with a bunch of friends.
