Upopoy Ainu Museum is a beautiful set of buildings describing and demonstrating the Inuit culture of Hokkaido. Great place to be visiting on a rainy day.

Having another great Hikoi trip in Japan. Lots of urban tramping through the Akasaka, Roppongi and Shibuya areas in Tokyo yesterday, and our guests were up to the challenge. We saw a wedding procession at the beautiful forest Meiji Jingu shrine.

HIKOI Garden Tours is up and running again!

It’s great to be out visiting gardens again after Covid, and our first foray has been a local one - to Garden Marlborough.

Our group of 15 had a wonderful time, enjoying 3 days of garden tours in Blenheim, Wairau, Awatere Valley and down the East Coast towards Kaikoura -garden highlights included Barewood, Welton House, Hortensia House, Winterhome, Paripuma, Moritaki and Bhudevi – see photos.

The icing on the cake was the Garden Party, Paul Bangay’s talk, Garden Fete and winery lunch (of course) rounded out our entertainment nicely.

We'll be off to Taranaki and Japan in 2023 so watch this space!
