E Moe Te Rangatira. Sleep Well Sir.
A simple floral tribute to mark the passing of a legendary Maori artist , Selwyn Muru who’s artistic legacy includes the official gate to city.
Town square’s Waharoa since 1990, Selwyn’s whanau/family are now the curators of this striking sculpture which he fashioned with chisel & chainsaw out of macrocarpa wood. Sourced from the Treaty grounds at Waitangi, world leaders, athletes, rockstars, graduates & our guests have passed under this stunning archway. As a welcome gesture to Aotearoa, NZ.
Take a moment to admire (& touch) next time you visit Aotea Square,

It’s the little things on our small group tours which drive our 5star reviews. Like personalised recommendations on where to eat, based on where a guest is staying. And pulling out the restorative pineapple lumps when jet lag hits.
Then dropping into bookstore (if we’re hosting kids) to share great NZ authors & boost their cash register.
Or gifting this Aucky Walky bookmark at the end of every tour.
To encourage visitors to use Te Reo Maori on their NZ travels.
We aim to be streets ahead… with the big and little things.

Nau Mai Kaiarahi Tepihi! Welcome Guide Debbie. Raised in Auckland, this warm-hearted Kiwi wahine shares her top 5 fave things about the city she loves to share with guests:
1. The beautiful Waitematā Harbour & Waiheke’s beaches, its chilled vibes & vines🍷
2. Browsing the art at Toi o Tamaki. Free for visitors too!
3. Barista coffee - Ozone on speed dial.
4. The fab food scene - .nz - knock it outta the park every time. Miss our kai when overseas.
5. Te tangata - the people. Such a diverse mix of vibrant cultures in one small-big city.

Oh and patting dogs too. Swipe.

Kiwi birds spotted in downtown Auckland for the first time in 100 years!

Food is the authentic global language but it takes a great guide to unlock a destination’s top local recipes.
Had the most fantastic day on our 6-day foodie tour of Portugal with Kiwi foodwriter-guide Peta Mathias. Who loves to spotlight local family producers & great restaurants. We shopped, cooked and sat down to eat with Chef Pedro in his Lisbon kitchen. The giant prawns & pulled crab at Cervejaria Ramino, octopus salad at Caneca de Prata & the flakey, buttery pastel de nata from Mantiegaria ….need Auckland branches pronto!

Finally a compelling and exciting vision for Auckland Tamaki Makaurau’s waterfront. For years we’ve been sharing our ideas with visitors on what would make our waterfront worldclass. How jelly we are of Sydney.
Let’s Reduce the Port, restore People & Place.
Show us any other major city which imports 250,000 cars p.a in the heart of its downtown.
Imagine strolling down Queen St in your togs and taking a dip in the open air swimming pool. Or listening to Six-60 on a summers night at a harbour side sound shell. Not a concrete stadium.
We wish our city planners, iwi and funders lightening speed & kia kaha in pushing this through. Without impacting our rates.
