Way-back-when-photo from 1982.

The second motorcycle I ever owned, a 1977 Honda CB360.
I purchased this bike whilst still at school from Coleman's Suzuki in 1982, earning the money from haymaking over the summer holidays. At that time a 360cc motorcycle was considered
'mid range', and quite the bike. Can't remember the purchase price but I do remember selling it in 1986 for $600 - which was enough to cover my airfare to start my OE.

My take on this year's Burt Munro 2024 festivities in Invercargill and Bluff. There didn't seem to be the motorcyclists around when compared to my previous visit in 2016, nevertheless motels in Invercargill were pretty much all displaying the 'No Vacancy' sign.

A huge turnout for the Oreti Beach Races. Weather by and large okay, though the rally campers received a soak early on in proceedings. Thoroughly enjoyed my time here in Invercargill, onwards to Stanley's Hotel in Macraes tomorrow night.

My Burt Munro 2024 trip down to Invercargill is off to a rocky start....

It was my first AA roadside 'rescue' in 25years of membership. Thanks to Jessie the AA Cromwell contractor who came to my aid when the alternator on my V-Strom packed up when riding SH 6 late yesterday, pictured here at 8pm beside Lake Wanaka south of Makarora. After a lot of spluttering l had managed to get the bike within cellphone coverage as l had just completed the Haast section on SH 6.

Thanks too, to Graham & Kerry Bastow who received an unexpected SOS call and put me up for the night with Graham organising a local bike shop to see my bike first thing tomorrow.
