Te Paparahi Toi: A free walking tour celebration with Grayson Goffe that explores the character of the community and vibrancy of the Karangahape Road area through a lens drawn from Te ao Māori. On Thurs 1st and Thur 15th of December, at 5pm and 7pm.
Our Hikoi focuses on the themes of ecology(Taiaotanga), identity (Tuākiritanga), connection and community, walking and talking to the Taonga Toi (Public art) or tohu whenua (landmarks) that reflect the Mauri and unique character of Karangahape.
Hosted by local Kaupapa Māori community group Whakamanatia, we depart from St Kevins Arcade (183 Karangahape and finish at OPEN Café (553 Karangahape), where Kai Māori will be available to purchase.

Book an Auckland City Heritage Walk, spaces available tomorrow morning, Tuesday 6 September, 10am. Bookings essential.

Auckland's Heritage re-imagined. Rudyard Kipling described Auckland as 'Last. Loneliest. Loveliest. Exquisite. Apart'. This walking tour introduces people to one of the world's most unique cities, which the indigenous Maori called Tamaki Makau Rau - 'the placed loved by many'. Starting at the harbourside we walk uptown, exploring the historical narrative contained within the central city valley. We encounter insights into naturual history, pre-European and colonial settlement through the cityscape, its geography, architecture and public art.

Start point: Corner Lower Queen and Quay Streets (outside Endeans Building, No. 2 Queen Street)
