The award-winning tourism team at Johnston's Coachlines has just launched Kiwi Wonder Tours - personalised and authentic day trip experiences from Aotearoa New Zealand.

On the Waitomo Ruakuri Cave & Hobbiton Day Tour, visitors will be treated to constellations of Glowworms at Ruakuri Cave, one of the most extensive case systems in Aotearoa, before setting off to the world-famous Lord of the Rings Hobbiton Movie Set in search of Bilbo Baggins and beyond the doors of Bagshot Row. We’re also privileged to work in partnership with Discover Waitomo to create a day trip itinerary that is quite unlike any other currently available.

It’s our second day at 2024 in Wellington! TRENZ is New Zealand’s largest international tourism business event of the year, during which the Johnston’s team has nearly 100 appointments with travel representatives from all over the world. We are excited for another day connecting and networking with international travel trade top leaders!

This week the Johnston’s team attended MEETINGS, the only national tradeshow in New Zealand for the Business Events industry, at the brand-new Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre . MEETINGS is a great opportunity to make new connections, understand our clients' needs and tailor our services to suit.

Johnston’s also had the privilege of providing transport services to the conference attendees over the two-day event. Huge thanks to the host venue and BEIA (Business Events Industry Aotearoa) for making this event happen, and a shout out to our amazing team who helped make our attendance such a success.

We're not done, but we're halfway through! We have had a wonderful beginning at the full in-person TRENZ for the first time in three years, after Covid-19 disruptions. It was great to reunite & form meaningful relations with tourism professionals, gain insights and network with travel leaders from around the world. Now, we are ready for day three!

This week we had our third fully electric van delivered to Johnston’s. We have been running two LDV electric vans in Christchurch since just before Christmas, providing Park & Ride services to Christchurch Airport. This new EV van will shortly be available for Johnston's to provide shuttles and small group transfers for our Christchurch customers.

At Johnston’s we are committed to sustainability and environmentally friendly transport. Adding another new electric vehicle to our fleet is one small step towards the goal of reducing our carbon footprint.

We celebrate the milestones and impact these amazing women have made within our company and in the lives around them. Various parts of the North Island have had a very rough start to 2023 with numerous disasters hitting the country just six weeks into the year. On the 27th of January, historically heavy rains fell on Auckland, making it the city’s wettest day on record. Additional rain fell on the 31st of January, triggering significant flooding and landslides whilst hindering recovery activities.

To support the families facing hardship as a result of the floods, Go Bus New Zealand, Johnston's Coachlines and SkyBus Auckland have donated $10,000 to David Letele(aka the Brown Buttabean) and his BBM foundation. The BBM team has made a significant contribution to help South Auckland families in immediate need due to the flooding, working tirelessly over the last few weeks providing food and support.

Yesterday our CEO Calum Haslop, along with staff members from Go Bus Auckland South and Central/East Depots volunteered their time to assist the BBM team with packing and delivery of care packages. It’s a massive privilege for us to support our community in this way and we wish all those families directly affected by the weather events all the best in the recovery of their homes and possessions.

We are excited to announce that Johnston's and Go Bus’s parent company, Kinetic, has signed a contract to acquire NZ Bus Ltd, one of New Zealand’s largest urban bus operators.

The investment will allow Kinetic to add further diversification into its New Zealand operation, by expanding its city bus operations in Auckland, and entering the Wellington and Tauranga markets through the NZ Bus urban contracts held there.

Aligning with Kinetic’s strategic focus on sustainability, NZ Bus’s credentials will complement our experience and leadership in the Australasia region as the largest operator of zero emission busing.

Johnston's and Go Bus look forward to welcoming the NZ Bus team into the Kinetic family.

We had a food truck at Johnston’s last Friday! It's our way of saying "Thank You" to all our staff and to bring some fun and Christmas cheer to our team. Many of our staff will be working through the festive period. To these wonderful people, we can’t thank you enough for keeping the wheels turning, and we hope you all get to enjoy a thoroughly well-earned break at some stage over the summer.
