From 1st December our guests visiting Hobbiton will get to explore the inside of a Hobbit Home. We were lucky to get a preview at the opening last night. No interior pictures are allowed until 1st December but was great to have Sarah McLeod (Rosie Cotton) and Mark Hadlow (Dori) as part of the opening ceremony. Here is a short video of that!

A chonky, hungry kererū feeding on nikau seeds along the Kitekite track, Piha!
There is only a thin layer of 'flesh' covering the seeds on the nikau plant, so the kererū gorge themselves on the seeds, before they are passed through their system and are spread all over the bush. This is one of 70 native plants whose seeds are spread by the hungry birds!

We may have had a bit of rain recently but that makes for spectacular waterfalls! This is the waterfall at Karekare, known as 'te ahoaho' (long white threads). Seen on our coast and rainforest tours. #nzwaterfalls

The Gap at Piha
We are all sensibly staying in our local neighbourhoods, we all know this is temporary and we are looking forward to getting out and seeing NZ when we are allowed to. A couple of our guides are shooting video and photos of their Piha neighbourhood on their daily walks so we thought we’d share some of their visual inspiration for you. This is a short video of 'The Gap' at South Piha taken the other day in some strong winds. In Māori tradition, The Gap was the home of the famous Taniwha Kaiwhare.
