We are pleased to introduce Claire McCallum as Bettabuilt’s new General Manager.

Claire has been leading the Fixed Price Lump Sum side of our business as Bettabuilt’s General Manager – Contracts since 2022. Her background in commercial management and quantity surveying, along with her experience across various sectors, means she is well-equipped to tackle any challenge.

Latham Construction NZ recently recognised our team on the Metlifecare Beachlands project with a Safety Award for their PPE, daily pre-start and toolbox meetings, and reporting. This development includes the construction of two three-level apartment blocks side-by-side within a retirement village.

It is great to see our team acknowledged for upholding a high standard on-site. Nice work!

We held our Annual Excellence Awards earlier this year to recognise and celebrate our top performers. The winner of our 2022 Apprentice of the Year (Over 2 Years) Award was Giles Hall, for his commitment to going the extra mile and exceeding expectations.

Giles has worked on many of Bettabuilt’s projects in Christchurch, including Te Kura o Matarangi Northcote School, Paparoa Street School, and Te Ara Maurea Roydvale School. In early 2023, Giles has been signed off by BCITO Te Pūkenga and is now a New Zealand trade-qualified carpenter.

We are proud to highlight the achievement of Aaron Ley, who delivered a captivating presentation at last week’s New Zealand Certified Builders Association conference in Christchurch.

Aaron has a talent for connecting with people, which he puts to good use by providing one-on-one coaching and delivering our Leadership Foundation training to Bettabuilt staff across New Zealand. This training is an important part of our career development programmes.

At the conference, Aaron shared one of the modules of this Leadership Foundation training on how to motivate your team. Thank you to NZCB for inviting Aaron to connect with conference attendees and share his expertise.

Bettabuilt’s story started 8 years ago with a small team in Auckland. Since then, we’ve expanded considerably. Now, with over 180 employees, we take care of our clients’ carpentry needs all across New Zealand.

Thank you to all of the team members and customers who have been a part of our journey so far. We look forward to many more years of building confidence in construction together.

Congratulations to our Spencer on Byron team, who completed this significant project earlier this year! Beginning in 2018, this project has seen a lot of change to the building and change in the world. We are lucky, though, to have had the same foreman throughout the entire project – Constant Ladreza (pictured standing).

Constant demonstrated impressive dedication, great leadership, and serious carpentry skills on site. The project has benefited from his understanding of the project’s history and complexities from start to finish.

Constant has been with Bettabuilt since 2015, one of the “originals” who arrived from Bettabuilt’s first recruiting trip to the Philippines. We are delighted that he has accepted a promotion to Construction Supervisor on our new Westwood Apartments project.

At Bettabuilt, we believe in celebrating team members who go above and beyond. Today we want to recognise our hard-working team on the Imperial Gardens project. The team has really stepped up on this project in numerous ways to meet the client’s needs, including completing the deck infills of a 12-storey building – all 231 of them!

Well done, Milos and Vlad, and thank you for your ongoing dedication and commitment to this challenging project.

Matt was nominated by the site supervisor because he always applies himself, asks relevant questions, and is committed to progressing in his apprenticeship. He is a first-year apprentice and well on his way to becoming a great carpenter!

Bettabuilt Quantity Surveyor, Caroline Su, was recently interviewed by ChristchurchNZ. Caroline shared her experience moving from China to Christchurch when she was 15 years old. She was inspired by the construction and wanted to help grow the city, so she earned a Diploma in Quantity Surveying and a Bachelor of Construction.

Caroline shared how she has embraced the kiwi culture and found her path in construction. Lucky for us, that path has led her to Bettabuilt! Caroline is enjoying the opportunity to further develop her career and work on interesting commercial renovation projects.

Moving from China to Christchurch for high school education was no easy feat for a 15-year-old whose first language wasn't English.
