The upper mountain was skiing brilliantly, though a touch more fresh snow wouldn’t have gone amiss—fortunately, it arrived the day I left. Even so, the skiable terrain was vast, and in just a few days, I barely scratched the surface. These mountains are huge!”

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Al Raine, the Mayor of Sun Peaks Resort. A visionary leader in the ski industry, Al’s contributions, together with those of his wife Nancy Greene Raine, to the growth of Whistler and Sun Peaks will forever be remembered. Having had the chance to meet him in person, we were lucky enough to witness Al’s passion, determination, and love for the world of skiing and the people within it.
Our thoughts are with Nancy, Al’s family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched. His legacy will continue to shine on the slopes and in the hearts of those who knew him.
