A few new/different tools added to the fleet this year for our upcoming projects, 10T grader, 3.5T towed sheepsfoot roller, 4T tip trailer for the wheelie digger, new 4 axle trailer for Kenny, and a new 3T tipper, 3T track dumper to match our other for the narrow muddy track we have ahead of us

Our latest project completed, thanks to our brilliant team, Marlborough Tree Care, Vortex Contracting and FH Marlborough. This one was a pretty labour intensive job for us over some of the hottest days of the year 🥵. With this being a culturally sensitive site and on the edge of SH1 we were very mindful of the impact the site would have during the build so leaving a minimal footprint and minimal disruption was a must!! A few rough numbers of installation: 98 post holes augered /hydrovacced and concreted, 840m of timber boxed edges and 1120 timber pegs driven in the ground. All soils were screened and reused onsite and a vegetation removed was mulched and also reused onsite. Although a small site there was a lot of work involved, once again thanks to the team for their top efforts

So here she is, something very different for us and after a few mods and some trialling we are absolutely stoked with her performance and capabilities. With our upcoming and current cycleway works we were after a tool for gravelling the narrow sections of track (as this is very slow with a track dumper and digger) so we have ended up with our Kubota tractor, 85hp, 1.5m cut width, 1.7m overall width, low height to get under trees and tracks for better traction, heaped volume of 1.9m3, we also added extra rear wheels to the scraper for better floatation and rolling. Earlier in the year, we were lucky enough to help Edridge Contracting and Richardson Brothers with loading / levelling woodchip in a ship ready for export, running 24 hours constant, this was very different to our usual scope, great to have been part of
Over the last 6 weeks the team have been hiding - staying away from home down the outer Pelorus Sounds. We have found, cleared (inlet & outlet) jetted / flushed, photographed, assessed and documented 300+ culvert crossings in the outer sounds, with 45.7km of ground covered. This has been a massive job, thanks to all involved- Troy, Regan, Roma, Georgie and special mention to Matt and Kenny who have been looking after the Jetter unit which is hard physical work, much appreciated team, and not to mention 1200 culvert photos!!
We have recently given our D3 dozer a good spruce up, new grousers, rippers, screens and sweeps, paint job and some workshop repairs to make sure she is knocked into shape ready for this seasons cycleway works, watch this space for another specific tool we have added to our box of tricks
We are extremely proud to announce that at Friday nights Nelson / Marlborough Civil Contractor Awards we were awarded the ‘Innovation Award’ for the Dodsons Dam spillway project we completed earlier in the year. This was an extremely tricky job which meant we had to think outside the square to make things work!! But all well worth it - thanks to all our team involved, Carol for her great job with the entries and CCNZ for a well run event

The Wanaka trip and some show pics - this was great fun after a lot of work building up to the event, trip all went well with all wheels staying on the trucks . . . a couple of minor electrical issues but very smooth sailing. Wheels at Wanaka is a highly recommended event to attend in 2025, was great to meet so many passionate people and even a previous owner of our International truck, see you there in 2025
This job I am happy to label as the “Trickiest one of our career” with thanks to Kenny and Troy who really made this one unfold. An outlet structure for a dam in a very sensitive location with only 4WD access was only the start of the test, ground water and seepage running through middle of the site, the site being in the valley of some large catchments, some tight drilling conditions (room to work & tight soils), 1 x 5T structure and 1 x 4T structure to get down the hill and lift into place (no crane access) and a very tricky design to follow were only some of the tests, but aren’t the results great!! We are extremely proud on this one, cheers to our clients, our Elite team, Blair (Richardson Brothers Construction) for his help, Troy (TG Excavations) Myles & the Cuddon’s team, Ian Williams & team, Matt (Meridian Compass Ltd), without all your help we could not have achieved what we did. Quite a few days in gumboots, a lot of sweat dripped but all was worth the challenge to nail this one!!

One of the tricky projects we have been working on down the Queen Charlotte Sounds, this was a result of last July’s weather event which cut off property access for the owner. With minimal room available to work and store materials this was a real test for the team - not to mention the 23.5m3 of concrete mixed onsite by hand! But with the weather being kind and the right team on the ground the job unfolded faultlessly, we are very proud of this one!! Thanks to our clients Rob & Andrew, our Elite team for the efforts while staying away from home (Matt, Jordan, Ben, Troy TG Excavations) Liam and James (Kenny Barging) and Kenny, Matt and Troy for minding the works on the mainland.
And we are here!! The gear is on the ground, a clean up day today ready for the show, we cant wait!!
