Answer: They did this day... meet "Goa" This wee lass isn't known for her speed, but she is curious! Goa decided to eye up our Dive Lead Jordan last Wednesday... and I think they are now friends..😍🦈

Meet Jorge.
The Shark Experience team have had the pleasure of seeing Jorge over the last three seasons. He's grown. He's a bit sassy. He's a damn fine looking shark. He is 'named' after one of our more frequent passengers who has a serious Shark addition - so much so, we worked out it was better for everyone if she just became part of our team. Happy Birthday Jorja. Love Jorge. 🦈

Volunteer Needed - Tackle Bin Project: 1st Feb to 10th Feb 2025.
We have a short term volunteer role for a local or a long stay visitor to Bluff.
What’s involved: clearing tackle bin deposits, picking up fishing line on the Town and Old Town Wharf twice a week, sorting deposits and labeling. About 30min twice a week.
PM our team if you are keen to help keep our ocean clean!

We meet some pretty talented people on our tours - amazing photographers, creators and people that just get that 'perfect shot' by chance.
Earlier this season we got to meet , a humble "amateur nature photographer" who managed to capture the chaos and majesty of the humble Mollymawke... Δ€taahua (beautiful)

Seen any sharks this summer? 🦈 We're interested in hearing from you!

Many different species of sharks can be seen in harbours and coastlines around New Zealand during summer months when they come closer to shore to pup and to look for food such as fish, seals, and rays. 🌊

DOC scientists would be grateful for any shark sighting information in and around Akaroa Harbour/Banks Peninsula this summer to help better understand habitat use. Recent sightings include great white and sevengill sharks and there are likely to also be bronze whalers among others.

If you see a shark, please call our hotline ☎️0800 DOC HOT (362 468) or email us at [email protected]. If you can get a photo, this is also handy for species identification. πŸ“Έ

A reminder too that if you are fishing and accidentally catch a protected species you must report it to DOC.
