Steve Johnsons City of Ink was established 1st April 2010 by Steve Johnson, and his partner Michelle Ross. Steve had (39 years) experience under his belt, he wanted to open a new studio with Michelle, to have a fresh start before entering his 40th year of tattooing. Steve was acknowledged as New Zealand’s most awarded artists throughout his career. After traveling around USA and the UK, Steve retu

rned to New Zealand with tattoo secrets and bright inks that gave his work a distinctive stye. Steve passed away on City of Ink’s first birthday, leaving Michelle to step up as the ‘Boss Lady”. The team at City of Ink treasure Steve’s legacy and intend to live up to his tattoo standards, they work hard to design custom tattoos for City of Ink clientele. Our artists understand the design process is a collaboration with the customer, ensuring our clients receive a personal, original, quality tattoo design that will age gracefully on the body and stand up to the test of time.
