Art Fe'tiche Studio

Art Fe'tiche Studio Art Fetiche Studio Ltd is an award–winning sign-making and design studio, based in Woolston, Christchurch.

We design, project–manage, manufacture and install signs and displays of all kinds, with a specialisation in one–of–a–kind 3D and lit signs. Beginning life in 1992 as predominately a sandblasted-glass studio, Art Fetiche has evolved into a "jack–of–all–trades" business with a reputation for creating exceptional and unique signs & displays. Over the years, owner/operator Brent Brownlee and crew hav

e made something of everything, from simple vinyl–cut lettering, to bronze and carved glass sculptures, through to entire shop–fit–outs of 3D decor and lit signs. We pride ourselves on our excellent work ethic and attention to detail, and invite you to contact us to discuss your next project.

Goldpine recognised the need to improve its visibility in a competitive market. While the company had already implemented signage and branding on its buildings, they felt these efforts lacked a distinctive flair that would set them apart. To address this, Goldpine partnered with us at Art Fetiche, a creative agency known for its innovative approaches to branding and design.

Working alongside Morgan Darlison from Kaitiaki Studios design we created a waka design for Cool Tranz made from corten steel. Morgan’s design is inspired by the Taurapa (sternpost) of a waka. As well as serving an ornamental purpose the Taurapa designs represent an intricate whakapapa (genealogy) of the waka and depict many details relating to the protection of the waka on its journey.

Punangiri has officially opened its doors! This long-awaited facility is the replacement for the original Punakaiki Visitor Centre and is conveniently situated just a short distance from the renowned Pancake Rocks. The new centre features enhanced amenities and educational displays that highlight the natural beauty and unique geological features of the Punakaiki region. We worked alongside Master Carver Fayne Robinson to fabricate artwork that blends the culture and identity of Punakaiki together.

One of the final construction milestones at the new Stead Street pump station is complete. Standing 4-5 metres high, the three pieces of Corten Steel and stainless steel wrap the pump station, drawing inspiration from the open weaving style of kupeka, a long fishing net. The open weave design symbolises the importance of environmental care and conservation for future generations, and the directional flow of the design represents the interchange of waitī and waitā—fresh and salt waters.

🌊 The Stead Street pump station mahi toi (artwork) was blessed yesterday, marking one of the final construction milestones for the pump station.

🎣 The mahi toi, crafted from Corten Steel and stainless steel, draws inspiration from kupeka - a long fishing net.

🌍 The open weave design symbolises the importance of environmental care and conservation for future generations, and the directional flow of the design represents the interchange of waitī and waitā—fresh and salt waters.

🎨 Local artist James York worked with designer Keri Whaitiri and a wider project team to develop the piece, fabricated by Christchurch’s Art Fetiche and installed by JK's Engineering Ltd

🐟 It is the final installation for the area, integrating seamlessly with related projects on Stead Street and Airport Avenue and is part of the wider cultural narrative for Waihōpai.
