Important Update: Changes to Malthouse Costume Hire Operations
Malthouse Costume Hire will shortly transition to a new operational model, after proudly serving Christchurch public and commercial hirers since 1985 as the city’s finest bespoke costume hire business. As of February 28th the business will no longer operate as a drop-in retail store.
Instead, the Malthouse Costume Hire will operate on an appointment-only basis, allowing the business to continue for commercial and group hirers.
We are sad to be making this momentous decision which reflects changes in demand for the bespoke costume hire we have offered. While we know it will come as a disappointment to our many loyal customers who have cherished the ability to drop in and hire, we remain committed to meeting costume needs for groups by appointment.
To mark this significant transition, this year’s Malthouse Costumes Annual Sale, held on February 21st and 22nd, will be especially notable. A large amount of stock will be cleared during this sale—an incredible opportunity for customers to take home unique pieces from our extensive collection.
Please note that other activities at The Malthouse will remain unaffected:
Canterbury Children's Theatre continues as usual, providing ongoing live theatre for children in the school holidays.
The Malthouse Drama School is thriving, offering exceptional programmes and fostering the next generation of performers.
