How amazing is this! Auckland Vintage Car Club finished their rally at the house and had a picnic on the lawn. The rain held off til the very last minute.
It was AMAZING to have vehicles the same age as the house together here. 😍

She was a pretty big job, Saturday.
Coming into event season means the grass needs more regular attention, with progressively shorter cuts AND all the clippings need to be picked up.
So worth it with some good sounds to keep me bopping away to!

So much going on at my end, all the adventuring, hosting and organising has momentarily caught up with me in the form of an annoying cold!

But if one is to be unwell, what better place to recover 🥰

Big weekend ahead, and what a great way to lift one's soul by hearing the laughter, love, light and life that will be happening here!
This is when the house truly comes into her own 😍

What an insanely fantastic week.
Te Kiwi Māia back in the house with an even bigger group of wellness leaders from the first Responders community.
I love that so many organisations were present to talk about issues that make or break their people.

The house is all set up and guests have arrived for a Matariki weekend of creativity, community and by the look of the supplies, laughter and mojitos!

It is an outstanding day. There's a fresh chill in the air and the dew is glistening off blades of grass like diamonds in the morning sun.

Matariki is the start of the Maori New Year. It's a time of Remembrance - to acknowledge losses in our lives since the last rising of Matariki; to celebrate the present, gathering to give thanks for what we have and to plan for the future.

The last year at Huntly House has been great. I've had wonderful groups through, interesting guests from all over the world and I've enjoyed the time in the garden and looking after a place that is rich in peace and serenity.

On a personal front the last year has been a trial.
Matariki marks for me the period of Remembrance for the loss of my marriage and the dream of the future with my husband in the second half of our lives.
Matariki marks for me, weekends like this, where people are gathered in such a beautiful space to be present in the present with eachother.
Today Matariki indeed signifies a New Year ahead, where the pages of my story are blank, yet for me and Huntly House to make our mark in the areas of my life that are deeply meaningful to me.

Huntly House is a place of solace for many who come through her doors to stay. She becomes what she needs to become to meet the needs of others and this Matariki, with clear blue skies, crystal waters twinkling in the brightness of day and the sunlit and sun warmed rooms providing a safe haven and temporary and comfortable break from the realities of life. 🥰

This Matariki Maori New Year, acknowledge those lost to you in the previous year, hug your children, express the love and respect you have for yoir spouse, make exciting plans for your future.
