Today, we stand in quiet reflection to honour the brave souls of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps who served and sacrificed.

On ANZAC Day, we remember not only the fierce battles fought, but the enduring spirit of camaraderie and resilience that defines us.

My sister and I have been enjoying a quick 4 night escape to sunny Fiji and although I’ve visited this beautiful country many times now it’s always good to try somewhere new as every resort has its own unique feel

The Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and spa located on the Coral Coast an 1 hr drive from the airport did not disappoint. It definitely lives up to its 5 star rating. Staff and resort facilities have been fantastic and being away from the kids means we have enjoyed the adults only areas of the resort.

Currently at 80% capacity the resort doesn’t feel busy at all. It’s large enough and well staffed that we’ve never had to fight for one of the luxurious day beds by the pool, wait more than 5 mins for a cocktail or prebook for dinner. There is always a smiling staff member nearby whenever you need.

The rooms are incredibly spacious with large bathrooms and all have large courtyards/balconies equipped with sun loungers and outdoor baths. Garden, Lagoon, Poolside, Beachfront you really can’t go wrong. They offer interconnecting rooms for families and have 1 & 2 bedroom suites in the Club area.

We’ve indulged in the spa, had beachfront massages, been on a horse trek guided by local village children , enjoyed cultural shows & very talented live acoustic musicians.

Icon of the Seas (currently the world’s largest cruise ship) arrived in Miami, USA yesterday ready for her very first sailing on January 27th.

The ship has 40 options to dine, drink and be entertained, as well as eight neighborhoods and 20 decks on board. She holds 5,610 passengers and has 2805 staterooms.

If you’re in London anytime soon make sure you go and check out The Crooked House of Windsor.

Built as a Market house in 1592 and then rebuilt in 1687 the house has been a butcher shop, tea house, antique shop, brewery and is currently an upmarket jewellery retailer.

Apparently there is also a secret passage in the basement linking it directly to Windsor Castle where Charles II used to sneak out and meet his mistress. You will find the house at 51 High Street, Windsor.

Miami Florida - what a great spot and definitely worth spending a week if you can while visiting the area.

We stayed at Lowes Miami Beach Hotel which is located on the beach front. We were definitely feeling underdressed here amongst the glitz & glamour of South Beach.

We had a day chilling by the pool/beach and then headed to the outlet mall for a solid days shopping and shop we did!!!!

Ticked off a Baseball game at Loan Depot park and drank beer and ate hot dogs with the local “ball” enthusiasts! Electric atmosphere - if you are in the USA you definitely need to attend at least one sporting event. The Americans really know how to have a good time!!!

We managed to squeeze in an airboat tour to spot some 🐊 gators in Everglades National Park before racing to the airport to catch our flight back home to NZ via Houston.

I can highly recommend Florida for a fun filled family holiday. We did so much but I feel like we didn’t even touch the sides.

4 night Bahamas Cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas. A great option to throw in the mix between the theme parks and shopping!

We did the round trip ex Port Canaveral which was great for a taster. So much to do you could never get bored … basketball, ice skating, laser tag, water slides, flo rider surf simulator, live music, mini golf, rock climbing, world class shows (we seen Grease and and ice skating one) I could go on and on!!

Having a balcony cabin in my opinion is a must!!! ✅ You don’t spend a lot of time in your room but it was so nice being able to walk outside onto the balcony in the morn and have a drink in the evenings looking out to the bluest of oceans and watching the thunder and lightning shows.

Our 1st port stop was Nassau - the capital of the 🇧🇸 Bahamas. I would recommend booking a shore excursion or local tour here so you don’t waste time trying to find the must do spots on your own. We ended up hiring an ATV Motorbike and cruised the island ourselves stopping off at random beaches/places which was awesome but I felt like we missed a lot there was to see here as got a bit too far off the beaten track!!

Next stop was Coco Cay which is an island owned by the cruise line. This was a great spot and basically one big party. DJs around the biggest pool I’ve ever seen, underwater music and lots of people having fun! There were a few different beaches around the island to swim
& snorkel and other various activities such as zip line, water thrill park, helium balloon rides and swimming with the pigs. I did this with my
Daughter 🐖 and it was ……… interesting. We can at least now say we have swum with pigs!! Unfortunately my battery went flat so have no photos of this. There are also quiet areas on the island which are more secluded and private.

I’d definitely recommend Royal Caribbean as a cruise line. It caters well for all ages, has plenty to do for young, old and in between, food was next level and plenty of options too (will miss being greeted by Elvis every morning at breakfast telling us to wash our hands “No washy, no yummy” 😂. Although there are 4000 plus passengers it never feels like you are onboard with this many (unless your at the pool!!) there are so many different areas to hang out with lots of quiet spots dotted around the ship if you just want to chill & read a book.

While the Universal & Disney areas are amazing it’s nice to see what’s on the outside too so we hired a car and drove to Crystal Springs which is about an hour north of Orlando. The springs were amazing and we got to swim with the Manatee’s (and gators 🐊 😬). Made a stop enroute to Walmart which my daughters so desperately wanted to see and wow! These are huge!! They seem to sell anything and everything and cheap prices. Think K mart on steroids!

The following day we did a tour to the NASA Kennedy Space Centre. This was great to see a bit of history and hear about the new moon landings they are currently working on which will be the first female and first coloured person to land on the moon. We seen the Atlantis space shuttle which was huuuggee and has been to space 26 times, the shuttle simulator was fantastic & gives you a feel of what it’s like to be in a rocket at take off.

Universal Studios Florida & Islands of Adventure. So many fun and scary rides!!! Managed to do everything thanks to the Express Pass. Again - these passes to skip ques are a must! Without them we would have needed 3 days to ride and see everything and with the pass we smashed it all out in 1 so had a cruisy 2nd day enjoying the characters, arcades etc.

Another thing we have figured out is you really need to book ahead in everything you do, especially restaurants! As kiwis I know we like to wing it but you really can’t here as it’s so so busy. A bit of pre planning will go a long way here!

Favourite ride would have to be the Jurassic Park Velocicoaster. Just about lost my lunch but what a ride!! 😱 So many rides with incredible special effects, simulators, 3D. These are state of the art and so impressive!!

Orlando - What a place! So much going on everywhere you turn. Have visited 2 out of the 6 Disney Parks. Magic Kingdom & Animal Kingdom. Animal Kingdom was a family favourite 🦒❤️. Once we learned how to work the Genie Plus service and skip the ques our days got a whole lot better!! Skip the que is a MUST otherwise you will spend all your day queuing for rides and in 30 degrees plus this is not fun!! 🥵 Well worth the extra $$!!!

We are staying at Wilderness Lodge which is a Disney resort. It is themed as a Canadian Lodge and has the most impressive hotel lobby 🤩. Some of the perks of staying at a Disney Hotel is early park entry and a free bus/boat transportation network. This runs like a dream with a bus to get you anywhere you need to go at anytime. They have nighty campfires with s’mores & movies under the stars but unfortunately these have been cancelled due to thunderstorms ⛈️ in the evening. Next level thunder too 😮😮😮!!!

Toured the Ryman Auditorium today and once again stood on the footsteps of music greats. Hop on Hop off Trolley which was a great way to get around the city and take on all the different neighbourhoods. Then spent the afternoon on Broadway with the H***y Tonks. Such fun, live music playing everywhere - spoilt for choice!!

Road trip today from Memphis to Nashville via Tupelo where we visited Elvis’s birthplace and home he lived in until he was 4yrs old. We then hit the Natchez Trace (scenic route) crossing through 3 states Mississippi, Alabama & Tennesse arriving in Nashville 3.5 hours later. Amazing concert at the Grand Ole Opry tonight. Was a real highlight after being an avid Nashville watcher!! Unfortunately no Rayna or Deacon there tonight.

Such a great vibe in Memphis! Beale Street with its bars full of live music. Civil Rights Museum is a must! Martin Luther King fought so hard for racial equality only to be assassinated outside his hotel room. The Peabody Hotel with its famous ducks that swim in the hotel lobby fountain & take the elevator back upstairs at 5pm each night - a tradition that’s been going over 80 years. AND the biggest hunting and fishing store I’ve ever seen in my life!! Bass Pro you have to see it to believe it, montstrous cat fish swimming in indoor lakes, alligators, and everything outdoorsy that you can possibly
Imagine! Missed out on an NBA game and a Mississippi River Cruise due to weather but Memphis has it all!!!
