Another great combination hunt during winter with us on private wilderness land. The Bull was spotted from the road and with a 1hr climb across and a perfect shot makes the hunt all well worth while, and under 1 hrs drive from the lodge. And taking a nice Fallow Buck there’s plenty of meat to fill the cooler.

It’s been 2 years of promising, trying to balance guiding and family when your season goes for 5 1/2 months is always hard to do as an outfitter. So the day or sometimes 2 that we sometimes get between hunts you need to push yourself to get out with the kids for them. Having seen this Stag a few weeks early we took the opportunity when he come down to try a stalk on him, with the younger hunters it’s not always straight forward but the fact these deer are on private land and not always under constant hunting pressure makes a difference in opportunity. 43 inch main beams and a lot of mass for a wild Red Stag Dougal made a tricky shot in the heavy Matagouri to final get a trophy deer, and plenty of organic meat for the freezer.

Absolute stud of a Bull Tahr, on private wilderness land .safaris. The old school way takes a bit of effort to hunt theses guys but is well worth the experience of a lifetime. Bull Tahr are every bit as challenging and prominent as a North American sheep hunt, but 3x as tough an animal.

Adam with an old Bull Tahr, age rings stacked Ontop of each other you can tell this guy has travelled off government land onto private with how close they are together. Bulls don’t get the opportunity during summer to get good growth due to hunting pressure so the rings are closer together as opposed to private land where there’s better feed and much less pressure due to management of these animals.
