Gus and Grace put in the hard yakka yesterday helping move 8 cubic meters of sand for the next pop up Beach for this summer 23/24. Last years pop up Beach and plant out is now fully bedded in.

The landscaping done in December has now bedded in really nicely. 50% there with one side now raised and contoured towards a “deluge zone”. There is a storm water pipe under ground delivering water from under the boardwalk to the deluge zone. Stage two will be to completely raise the other side of the section which should make the boardwalk act as a causeway, collecting the water in big rain events and delivering it to the deluge zone. In the interim the southern side of the section should make a nice lake effect in bigger rain events. Will be fun to monitor.

Mt Taranaki looking resplendent at sunset this weekend-pre the 🌧. Early European settlers called the South Taranaki Bight ‘Mothering Bay’ 🐋 because of the large numbers of southern right whales pairs (cow and calves) who occupied the shallow costal waters in Winter and Spring.

We are still rocking the retro style at the smurf shack. Currently due to Covid though, we are helping host a variety of awesome humans currently stuck in the community until flights resume to their respective contries. We are looking forward to hosting short term getaways soon though so message us to discuss and reserve dates. 💓

Kia Ora great New Zealanders. We are currently making the Smurf Shack available on a longer stay basis to assist essential workers, those needing to move/merge/leave bubbles or find a short term accommodation solution while everything is in limbo. Reduced rates of 25% for a week and even 35% month stays are offered. To ensure safe cleaning and disinfecting we have introduced a 4 day break between guests following MOH guidelines and a minimum 5 night stay rather than 1. If you or someone you know requires accommodation in the Foxton/Palmy/Levin area we may be able to help. Kia Kaha NZ.
