SH2 MATAWAI TO ŌPŌTIKI (WAIOWEKA GORGE) – RESURFACING - FINAL UPDATE: 8:45AM WED 26 FEB

This work has now been COMPLETED - there will be no closure TODAY, Wednesday 26 February. ^JP

UPDATE 12:50PM, FRI 14 FEB

Due to predicted poor weather next week, the contingency days have been POSTPONED.

The road will now CLOSE on Monday 24, Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 February from 10am-6pm each day to complete the resurfacing.

UPDATE 1PM, WED 12 FEB

Due to unexpected delays, these works have been EXTENDED and will continue next week on the contingency days Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 February, with Wednesday 19 February available if needed.

Plan ahead for four ROAD CLOSURES from Kerei St to Warrington Rd, 10am to 6pm each day, Tuesday 11 to Friday 14 February for resurfacing and other maintenance.

Business and resident access will be maintained at either end of the closures.

If there are concerns about weather this work will be postponed at short notice and moved to a contingency date. Contingency dates will be available from Monday 17 to Wednesday 19 February as the resurfacing works require the right temperature and dry weather to ensure longevity.

In that case, SH2 will remain open. An update will be provided in the comments section and on our highway conditions page journeys.nzta.govt.nz/highway-conditions/Gisborne
