As we approach the New Year, it's time to show some of the players who are committed to wearing the blue and white and representing our Men's 1st team in 2025. Plenty more announcements to come, stay tuned.

**GOLF DAY**

Make a note in your diaries, our Annual Golf Day will take place on Sunday, January 19th at Gisborne Park Golf Club. Entry fee is $20. All details are shown in the poster below.

There are 3 ways to register:
* Call the Golf Club on 867 9849
* Take a gentle stroll to the Club and put your name on the sheet by the Office
* Comment below on this post and we'll do all the hard work for you and register you

Last year was our best ever year in terms of numbers, so it would be great if we can get even more there this year. There will be the usual prizes, the BBQ will be fired up and we can even help to keep your kids occupied while you're on the course.

All are welcome including wives, girlfriends, husbands, boyfriends, or any combination of those! As well as sponsoring Thistle, Electrinet also sponsor the Golf Club so it's also a great way of showing support for our main sponsor. It's good to support our sponsors, because they support us.

**6 a side - POSTPONED**

Due to the amount of rain we're having, and the amount of water on the fields, the decision has been made to postpone tomorrow's 6 a side games.

We'll see you all again on January 9th.

A reminder that Tam will be holding a meeting tomorrow for players in our area who are interested in playing Men's 1st Team football with Thistle in 2025.

Our Youth players are also encouraged to attend to get an insight into what is expected from our 1st team players, what our plans and philosophies are, and what is required of them to make the next step up, if they want to do so.

On behalf of Gisborne Thistle, I wish to pass on condolences to Eric Topliss's friends and family.

From what I understand, Eric got involved with Thistle around 1977 after a Friday night catch up at the Record Reign with Ian Gordon and Laurie Heavy.
They wanted to have a game of football, so the Thistle 5ths were created. All 3 gentleman then got more involved with the club, ending up on the committee with Eric becoming Chairman around 1980.
He stayed as Chairman for a number of years before he moved to Thames to take up the Editors job in Thames in the late 80's.

Paul Rickard tells me that Eric was responsible for the match day mag that they would work on together whilst at work and Eric would print at home.

Eric spent many hours working for the club and his contributions help make the club what it is today.
He will be sadly missed by all those who knew and worked with him.

We are celebrating the life of a good person and mourning their passing with you.

Eric is being farewelled at 11am on Thursday the 28th of November at Taupo Funeral Services, 117 Rickett Street, Taupo.

He is pictured below with Paul Rickard, Ian Gordon and Paddy Sweeney at the club's 90th celebration.
